No, it's still up. Enjoyed that, but then I think he's great anyway. Slagging off Big Sam, grandiose promises, the commode mouth - love it all. I'd like it if he licked these guys' boots a bit less, but that's Kean for you, he challenges you at every turn.

i can't see it

No, thank you.

ludicrous rumours of rafa and martinez teaming up! it worked well with houllier and evans, i say try it again.

ooooiiiioooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaoooooh un - bi - leevable! (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 15 May 2012 11:44 (1 year ago) Permalink

in fact, two managers would be good, but three would be two more than any team in the league.

let's go rafa/martinez/capello

ooooiiiioooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaoooooh un - bi - leevable! (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 15 May 2012 11:45 (1 year ago) Permalink

Liverpool not confirming or denying it, I guess that's it then?

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 15 May 2012 11:47 (1 year ago) Permalink

amazing - and both are looking good for another 20 years at least

Benitez might be good for LFC, now.

I like the Benitez / Capello team idea.

really? kinda bemused by the martinez hype to be honest.

ooooiiiioooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaoooooh un - bi - leevable! (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 15 May 2012 11:53 (1 year ago) Permalink

Didn't you see the way he single handedly almost made Gary Caldwell look like a Premier League defender?

I'm not saying Martinez is rubbish, just that it would be a fairly wild gamble to put him in charge of a club going for honours.

ooooiiiioooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaoooooh un - bi - leevable! (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 15 May 2012 12:00 (1 year ago) Permalink

iirc lfc ilfers got stick for the lack of enthusiasm when Hodgson was appointed as well. It turned out well in the end tho.

pandemic, Tuesday, 15 May 2012 12:02 (1 year ago) Permalink

still getting stick for that as apparently he did such a brilliant job.

ooooiiiioooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaoooooh un - bi - leevable! (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 15 May 2012 12:05 (1 year ago) Permalink

they prob would have finished in the CL this year, or won the league, if they'd kept Hodgson and stayed up last year.

ooooiiiioooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaoooooh un - bi - leevable! (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 15 May 2012 12:06 (1 year ago) Permalink

yeah because the scores were right your sentence now is perfect.

i love the way football works like that.

martinez would do as well as dalglish, i think, but that's sidestepping that dalglish is leaving for a reason.

Nobody currently managing in the pl fits the job.

Rafa back? Oh pls.

Foreign manager? Ramos put me off for lyfe tbh.

It'll be AVB I reckon

The iconic Frenchman was the preferred option of the hundreds and thousands of voters from around the world for the nonchalant way he acknowledged his goal against Sunderland at Old Trafford in 1996...

...With Old Trafford in raptures, the mercurial forward slowly pirhouetted on the spot, surveying the scene and calmly taking in the magic of the moment, before eventually holding his arms aloft as McClair arrived to celebrate his brilliance.

Upon hearing that he had won the award, Cantona said: "That's the only thing I won? For a king like me it's not a lot."

not really seeing a point there, xpost, but feel free to make one.

we need, i mean we really need, as a board, to figure out the houllier/rafa/hodgson/dalglish thing, aside from the 'coddled the precious fans' thing, which has really fouled the water.

Roberto Martinez 3
Rafael Benitez 5/2
Andre Villas-Boas 12
Paul Lambert 14
Brendan Rodgers 14
Jose Mourinho 16
Martin ONeill 16
Steve Clarke 16
Unai Emery 16
Jorge Jesus 16
Carlo Ancelotti 20

i tried a glib response to that, dmac, but it's actually v tough to separate the bosses. (apart from the fact that roy and dalglish are on some distant lower level and part of a different era really, "the shit years")

assessing evans introduces a whole other set of probs. the years of dour and narrow bogball that followed his exit seem a sort of cul-de-sac from which we can't really escape, even as dalglish supposedly tries to play more open and attacking football.

i like the way rafa is somehow not a 'foreign manager' unlike say the foreigns who have won the league two out of the last three years

nakhchivan, Tuesday, 15 May 2012 12:38 (1 year ago) Permalink

houllier- made ye feel young & beautiful when ye took a holiday to greece, byeee roy!
Rafa- made brilliant love to ye, told beautiful lies, stopped ye seeing your friends and beat you when he drank. When he left he took your jewellery.
Woy- picked you off the pavement, took you home, gave you a bath and a brandy. Probably cooked your dinners, always wondered why you wouldn't let him frot you. Seemed relieved when you were gone when he came home one day.
Dalglish- you ended up with a bitter drunk, nobody surprised. Keep the eyes peeled for the next latino waiter, though!

pet tommy & the barkhaters (darraghmac), Tuesday, 15 May 2012 12:38 (1 year ago) Permalink

srsly they should get rafa back

nakhchivan, Tuesday, 15 May 2012 12:39 (1 year ago) Permalink

i was using foreign as 'not managed in epl', sorry- hence avb being allowable.

pet tommy & the barkhaters (darraghmac), Tuesday, 15 May 2012 12:40 (1 year ago) Permalink

from onimo's list
no, yes, yes,dunno, yes,no,no,no,yes,dunno, no

pandemic, Tuesday, 15 May 2012 12:40 (1 year ago) Permalink

Rafa still lives in Liverpool doesn't he? Not foreign

Number None, Tuesday, 15 May 2012 12:41 (1 year ago) Permalink

yes to rafa back? can't stomach more rafa, i really think now it's time for a clean break and a strong-minded person and no more insular lfc past/present headfuck

ooooiiiioooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaoooooh un - bi - leevable! (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 15 May 2012 12:41 (1 year ago) Permalink

Rafa holding out for Chelsea iho

Djibril Citté (onimo), Tuesday, 15 May 2012 12:42 (1 year ago) Permalink

yah i know deems, but i think yr slip says something about the way successful foreigns are treated as sort of naturalized english

like rafa is the bryan robson or graeme souness of the 10s, he will be linked to every managerial vacancy until he is like 78 yrs old because he won the european cup with liverpool

nakhchivan, Tuesday, 15 May 2012 12:42 (1 year ago) Permalink

MON

Could it finally be MON?

pet tommy & the barkhaters (darraghmac), Tuesday, 15 May 2012 12:43 (1 year ago) Permalink

can't see rafa coming back. Also don't think it'd really work either. But I am a huge Rafa stan and will probably never be as enthusiastic about a LFC manager again as I was about him. Love you Rafa ;)

O'Neill can Fuck Off btw

pandemic, Tuesday, 15 May 2012 12:44 (1 year ago) Permalink

MO'N's been linked with it since his second season at Celtic iirc.

Djibril Citté (onimo), Tuesday, 15 May 2012 12:44 (1 year ago) Permalink

iiarc he once took someone to court to prove he didn't want to manage Liverpool.

Djibril Citté (onimo), Tuesday, 15 May 2012 12:45 (1 year ago) Permalink

i don't think there are any obviously great upcoming managers who are going to consider liverpool

emery is probably the closest because it's known he wants to manage here at some point, but he can't really speak english

all of the successful foreign managers have spoken at least reasonable english

nakhchivan, Tuesday, 15 May 2012 12:47 (1 year ago) Permalink
