I renewed mine a few weeks ago and changed addresses. Two pieces of official mail addressed to you plus your old license should do it. I went to the express place out at like Diversey and Cicero and it was pretty fast, but bring cash. Iirc it was 30-something dollars.

Steve Youngblood (dan m), Thursday, 10 May 2012 22:07 (1 year ago) Permalink

Or was it one piece of mail and something else? Now I'm second guessing which is probably not helpful. Birth certificate maybe?

Steve Youngblood (dan m), Thursday, 10 May 2012 22:10 (1 year ago) Permalink

Holy shit, that much? I have only renewed once, but I've gotten a replacement and address change and they were either $10 or $15.

Fortunately there is a 24 hour information network where you can find out exactly what sort of ID you need!

iPhone

lol, AGAIN my clipboard got me. IDK why "iPhone" was in my clipboard, but I meant to c+p this: http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/publications/pdf_publications/dsd_x173.pdf

n/a, YOU need 1 from each of columns A, B, C, and D b/c you are making changes to your address.

Also bring the little one, they're going to want a stool sample. You might want to bring a sample from the cats just in case.

the 'real' acct can be just as funny

goole posted this video of the non-parody pronunciation guide in another thread. Odd.

Pita Malört (Je55e), Friday, 11 May 2012 13:45 (1 year ago) Permalink

Haha, misled by that URL.

Pita Malört (Je55e), Friday, 11 May 2012 14:39 (1 year ago) Permalink

Oh, that video didn't work.

Pita Malört (Je55e), Friday, 11 May 2012 14:40 (1 year ago) Permalink

Ha, I was like "What's misleading about that URL?" and then I remembered that bobcats are not just construction vehicles.

since we were talking about twitter the other day I wanted to share this, one of my favorite non-soccer feeds:

HULK JUST WATCHED DOCUMENTARY ABOUT RARE TRIBE IN REMOTE PART OF WORLD THAT STILL LISTEN TO GOLDFINGER.

Someone with whom I was childhood friends (my dad and his dad were coworkers) is profiled in the NYT Magazine this week:

got my license renewed. i had to take the written test for some reason but it was really easy. whole process took an hour and cost $30.

congratulations (n/a), Friday, 11 May 2012 15:35 (1 year ago) Permalink

Can't believe you had to take a written test.

That URL also suggests that he used Bobcat Goldthwait as a weapon.

Pita Malört (Je55e), Friday, 11 May 2012 15:56 (1 year ago) Permalink

I think I had to take a written test when I renewed in 2006.

Carrie Antwoord (jaymc), Friday, 11 May 2012 16:01 (1 year ago) Permalink

maybe because i've gotten a couple of tickets over the past few years?

congratulations (n/a), Friday, 11 May 2012 16:13 (1 year ago) Permalink

this morning i was listening to jaymc's steely dan mix and i was like "i'm going to wait and listen to 'hey 19' after i'm done at the dmv and walking over to my work." and then while i was taking my written exam at the dmv, i realized they were playing "hey 19" over the speakers.

congratulations (n/a), Friday, 11 May 2012 17:53 (1 year ago) Permalink

I think I have a free ticket to see Kurt Vile at Lincoln Hall on the 20th, as part of an assignment to photograph the show. A paid assignment with a press pass! Awesome!

Pita Malört (Je55e), Saturday, 12 May 2012 18:30 (1 year ago) Permalink

I don't remember that picture but it reminds me of that place - the Orange County Social Club.

Pita Malört (Je55e), Saturday, 12 May 2012 18:31 (1 year ago) Permalink

Also, I have no idea what year that was - I found it on another thread. I forget which one.

Pita Malört (Je55e), Saturday, 12 May 2012 18:31 (1 year ago) Permalink

Yes, it is the OCSC.

Jeff, Saturday, 12 May 2012 18:50 (1 year ago) Permalink

We have a bunch of pictures from there for some reason.

Jeff, Saturday, 12 May 2012 18:50 (1 year ago) Permalink

Half of them are of Christian.

I'm ready a really good book. The Countess by Rebecca Johns - http://www.amazon.com/The-Countess-Novel-Rebecca-Johns/dp/0307588459. It's historical fiction about everybody's favorite grumpy Hungarian countess, Elizabeth Nadasdy nee Bathory. It's proper historical fiction, not SHE WAS REALLY A VAMPIRE fiction, and it is really fascinating. And gross.

A friend who works in one of the Prudential buildings is FBing about protesters breaking in and getting arrested (Obama HQ also in that building).

I'm torn between being very excited about all of the protests/civil disobedience and being preemptively exhausted about how this is going to impact my daily life and also being very stressed because I have so much work to do and can't afford to miss any days.

The latter two are exacerbated by my having contracted a Hell Cold sometime this weekend.

I learned a new word from that story - squadrol. It's the proper term for a paddy wagon.

Also reading about singing Down by the Riverside and This Little Light of Mine as part of a faith-based social justice protest gave me flashbacks.

xp Or Obama Spare My Child for Me/Father's Rights Hunger Strike guy, nee FBI Stop Raping my Wife guy. Maybe he's working from home.

Dan, who issued that map? I don't understand the why it says Northbound Lake St. and Southbound Lake St.

Pita Malört (Je55e), Monday, 14 May 2012 15:37 (1 year ago) Permalink

That's my fault, I cut off part of the legend when cropping it out of the PDF. It should be Lake Shore Drive.

Me too! I actually had to speak during a public group prayer one time in NOLA. Fortunately the some leaders of the Worker Justice, Inc. had schooled me on their experiences in hiding godless atheism.
