anyways tho

thommys got bendz (Whiney G. Weingarten), Thursday, 10 May 2012 20:21 (1 year ago) Permalink

Like i said on twitter 2day

We let fashion magazines run rap media & let fashion labels distribute rap LPs, then act shocked when skinny white girls are the hot new rappers

And caucasian women who CAN actually rap [youtube.com/watch?v=FxZbpb…] get NO ATTENTION because they don't look like American Apparel models

thommys got bendz (Whiney G. Weingarten), Thursday, 10 May 2012 20:21 (1 year ago) Permalink

er

thommys got bendz (Whiney G. Weingarten), Thursday, 10 May 2012 20:21 (1 year ago) Permalink

i kinda think it's almost missing the point to call this rap

goole, Thursday, 10 May 2012 20:24 (1 year ago) Permalink

i hate how 13yo skinny white girls are basically the only rappers you hear about in 2012

Mordy, Thursday, 10 May 2012 20:25 (1 year ago) Permalink

this is still my favorite rap song of 2012

diamanda ram dass (Edward III), Thursday, 10 May 2012 20:26 (1 year ago) Permalink

t-swift is on the new b.o.b single btw, has anyone checked it out to see if she drops a hot 16

some dude, Thursday, 10 May 2012 20:29 (1 year ago) Permalink

man t-swift is ancient, needs to retire from the game imo

diamanda ram dass (Edward III), Thursday, 10 May 2012 20:31 (1 year ago) Permalink

hope I live to see the first rapping toddler go viral on skytubebook or w/e

diamanda ram dass (Edward III), Thursday, 10 May 2012 20:32 (1 year ago) Permalink

*quits the rap game*

The Reverend, Thursday, 10 May 2012 20:33 (1 year ago) Permalink

tbf there's not really any way for that to be the straw that breaks the camel's back post-hayley williams

some dude, Thursday, 10 May 2012 20:43 (1 year ago) Permalink

i mean yeah, it's quite predictable but yet so disheartening

The Reverend, Thursday, 10 May 2012 21:00 (1 year ago) Permalink

i feel kinda bad that i can't really listen to that invincible sledgehammer song. juicee song not my fave either. justin beiber song pretty funny though!

scott seward, Thursday, 10 May 2012 21:48 (1 year ago) Permalink

I'm not digging this

Roger Barfing (Shakey Mo Collier), Thursday, 10 May 2012 21:52 (1 year ago) Permalink

I didn't like that juicee song at first but made the mistake of listening to it twice and then it got stuck in my head and then it reprogrammed me. I'd call it a guilty pleasure except I don't feel any guilt. it's also 100x better listening to it without the video. not to impugn jelly roll's natural pulchritude, it just was made to be bumped through a car stereo, bass is niiice.

diamanda ram dass (Edward III), Thursday, 10 May 2012 22:42 (1 year ago) Permalink

riff raff collabo by the end of next week

J0rdan, Diddy (tpp), Thursday, 10 May 2012 23:39 (1 year ago) Permalink

counting the days until every blog is blasting shit in my ears about new Kitty Pryde Odd Future collaborative digital giveaway remix sponsored by mountain dew, Kitty Pryde beefs with Best Coast, delays tour, releases new animated tv series sponsored by Doritos new indie label. ugh.

i think shes a decent writer

max, Friday, 11 May 2012 16:50 (1 year ago) Permalink

i don't really care about her existence either way but i really wish good rap producers like beautiful lou would work with rappers that can actually rap

J0rdan S., Friday, 11 May 2012 16:56 (1 year ago) Permalink

there's been a pretty big gap between the talent level of most rap producers vs. the talent level of most rappers for a long time but probably now more than ever

some dude, Friday, 11 May 2012 16:58 (1 year ago) Permalink

i think she's pretty good! i mean shes what like 16?

max, Friday, 11 May 2012 17:01 (1 year ago) Permalink

the lil girl steez is annoying sure

max, Friday, 11 May 2012 17:02 (1 year ago) Permalink

i don't know... at some point that line of thinking crosses into self-parody

J0rdan S., Friday, 11 May 2012 17:02 (1 year ago) Permalink

i mean shes definitely not goon-friendly, & im planning on being hella annoyed by the stuff thatll be written about her, but like right now, before the 1m profiles and bullshit, its this charming well-done tumblr thing

max, Friday, 11 May 2012 17:05 (1 year ago) Permalink

i guess. there's an untold number of teens putting their music on the internet that are probably "okay" for being 16, not sure if that's worth much

clearly her rise in "popularity" is due to cynical hit trolling by cynical hit trolly music websites, so it's not her "fault" either

that said this music isn't very good and i can imagine an infinite better ways to spend time

J0rdan S., Friday, 11 May 2012 17:11 (1 year ago) Permalink

oh i think shes better than okay!

max, Friday, 11 May 2012 17:13 (1 year ago) Permalink

& i dont really think its cynical hit trolling -- the ppl who are writing about it genuinely like it!

max, Friday, 11 May 2012 17:15 (1 year ago) Permalink

not looking forward to all the pieces that are going to be written, or the shitty imitators, or the grumbling gen xers that want music to reflect a world that doesn't exist anymore, but before all the hype and controversy gets out of hand, I'll admit I think she has a way with style/aura, and that's all that matters, I think. it's all about how you use style and whether that resonates. saying that she can't *really* rap sounds suspiciously close to 'they can't even play the guitar'

Chris S, Friday, 11 May 2012 17:20 (1 year ago) Permalink

i mean sure these places genuinely like kid cudi and the girls writer's tweet about precious, but no

J0rdan S., Friday, 11 May 2012 17:21 (1 year ago) Permalink

im pretty into this

i have no plans to read anything written abt it on the internet, aside from this thread

johnny crunch, Friday, 11 May 2012 17:24 (1 year ago) Permalink

Is this the girl who was antagonizing Colin Newman recently?

chr1sb3singer, Friday, 11 May 2012 17:25 (1 year ago) Permalink

hahaha okay so she's in a trendpiece in the NYT with karmin

the prosecution rests

J0rdan S., Friday, 11 May 2012 17:25 (1 year ago) Permalink

i think there is a certain point at which a lot of bloggers cease to make any distinction between things they genuinely like and things that are extremely 'interesting' in a marketable/traffic-generating sense

some dude, Friday, 11 May 2012 17:26 (1 year ago) Permalink

yeah, thats probably true.

max, Friday, 11 May 2012 17:28 (1 year ago) Permalink

stuff is stuff gotta talk about something

scott seward, Friday, 11 May 2012 17:30 (1 year ago) Permalink

stuff like this makes me feel really old but in a *good* way, like it's so clearly not for me i don't have to have an opinion about it or care about it

kinda feels like a snow day in school

Bandersnatch Cumberbund (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Friday, 11 May 2012 17:41 (1 year ago) Permalink

i dunno, naming yourself after a 40 year-old comic book character kind of points to a lack of generational distinction happening.

Philip Nunez, Friday, 11 May 2012 17:44 (1 year ago) Permalink

is she wearing a...yeastie girlz t-shirt in the one video? huh.

i'm sure she's reading 60s x-men comics not, for instance, naming herself after the character Juno played in x-men 3

Bandersnatch Cumberbund (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Friday, 11 May 2012 17:52 (1 year ago) Permalink

also danny brown you stay away from this girl. you stay far away.

apologies for repeating myself to the two of you who read my internet presence elsewhere but i dont get why we cant just treat this like Owl City, and let it be really twee and teen-appealing & popular but almost never discuss it

man down (D-40), Friday, 11 May 2012 18:51 (1 year ago) Permalink

seems kinda like her head is in a fucked up place imo

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 8 May 2013 21:16 (1 week ago) Permalink

if she felt like danny not dealing with it all was appropriate that's on her i guess but i don't know if that was me in that situation i'd want my friend to tell those people to fuck off, just on a "i got your back" tip

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 8 May 2013 21:18 (1 week ago) Permalink

did he definitely know about it before playing his set? i mean, he was probably in the green room smoking weed and not watching, right?

yeah. the whole show had a weird vibe, but maybe that's just this tour

― flesh, the devil, and a wolf (wolf) (amateurist), Tuesday, May 7, 2013 10:39 AM (Yesterday) Bookmark Flag Post Permalink

anyway this is really disappointing. i think i had a show that night or i would have been there.

shit tie (Jordan), Wednesday, 8 May 2013 21:28 (1 week ago) Permalink

that's exactly it, it sounds like it was just a couple of people at a show being jerks and prolly not even on danny brown's radar at the time and no one, even kitty, really cares all too much except the outrage factories on the internet

sleepingbag, Wednesday, 8 May 2013 21:59 (1 week ago) Permalink

like, obviously chanting shit like that at a show is not cool, but not everyone has to respond with some big missive about what it means in critical terms, sometimes you can just respond by being like "this is not a big deal to me"

sleepingbag, Wednesday, 8 May 2013 22:03 (1 week ago) Permalink

did he definitely know about it before playing his set? i mean, he was probably in the green room smoking weed and not watching, right?

at the madison show danny brown came on 1 hr late b/c apparently he was so drunk/stoned that he had passed out in the tour bus. when they finally got him up it was almost 1 AM and he was clearly really groggy. this was evident in his between-song patter but his rapping was completely on point, which is some kind of real achievement.

i just note this to say that yeah he was probably completely oblivious to what was happening during kitty's set.

flesh, the devil, and a wolf (wolf) (amateurist), Wednesday, 8 May 2013 23:52 (1 week ago) Permalink

obviously chanting shit like that at a show is not cool

apparently this was not obvious to everyone in the audience

flamenco drop (lex pretend), Thursday, 9 May 2013 00:03 (1 week ago) Permalink

oh no sexually demeaning language at a rap show ;_;

because it's not surprising it shouldn't be discussed or indeed outright condemned?

flamenco drop (lex pretend), Thursday, 9 May 2013 00:06 (1 week ago) Permalink

a lot of what kitty wrote in that long blog post/whatever it was (can't tell on the internet anymore) was on point

but it's weird that it seems to have been written without the confidence/input of danny himself. she assured us that she knows what he is feeling but on no evidence

which honestly is kind of bad. not as bad as sucking danny brown's dick while he's performing. not as naff as all the misogyny evident at these shows. but kind of bad nonetheless

feel like for kitty her friendship with/access to the mind of danny brown is real capital and she's going to use it

which tarnishes her insights a little

flesh, the devil, and a wolf (wolf) (amateurist), Thursday, 9 May 2013 00:20 (1 week ago) Permalink

she assured us that she knows what he is feeling but on no evidence

he cosigned it pretty heavily after it was posted

flamenco drop (lex pretend), Thursday, 9 May 2013 00:30 (1 week ago) Permalink

yeah but he did so while still retweeting people who were more or less congratulating him for getting a BJ on stage no?
