I was wondering if I voted for any '90s films and then remembered I forgot to vote for Scream.

Speaking of La La Land, their latest 2 releases are pertinent to thread:

Coming Tuesday May 8, 2012 at 1 pm pst:

MOMMIE DEAREST
Music by Henry Mancini

La-La Land Records and Paramount Pictures present the world premiere release of Henry Mancini’s score to the cult classic MOMMIE DEAREST. This 51 minute presentation features the score as heard in the film, cues cut from the film, source cues and alternate tracks. With it’s grand sweeping themes and lush melodies that only Mancini can dish up this is a must buy Mother’s Day gift for all you Mother’s and “mutha’s” out there. wink Jeff Bond’s notes capture all the behind scenes antics of this Razzie Award winning classic! The movie might be one of those “it’s so bad it’s GOOD!” flicks but the one thing that is undeniably great is Mr. Mancini’s incredible score!

Continuing with our Mother’s Day theme. . .

ROSEMARY’S BABY
Music by Christopher Komeda

This definitive presentation of the Rosemary’s Baby score comes to you courtesy of La-La Land Records, Paramount Pictures and Universal Music Enterprises. Jam-packed with over 70 minutes of music this fantastic cd features the original soundtrack album, the film score, source music and a few bonus tracks. Neil Bulk and Chris Malone have performed miracles with their brilliant audio restoration of the film’s original mono tracks. In depth liners by Scott Bettencourt and John Takis take the listener behind the scenes of the film and the chilling score by one of cinema’s most underrated composers.

I want/need both of those!

I like these La-La Land Records people

I have made many nonregrettable impulse purchases from their website.

former personal denim advisor to the mayor, (La Lechera), Tuesday, 8 May 2012 18:17 (eleven years ago) link

Think Creepshow is the only purchase I've made from them so far, but it was incredibly worth it. (The only other horror site I've delved into so far is Fright Rags, but I didn't like the quality of the shirts they print on, unfor.)

jungleous butterflies strange birds (Eric H.), Tuesday, 8 May 2012 18:40 (eleven years ago) link

Oh yeah, love Creepshow sdtk!

former personal denim advisor to the mayor, (La Lechera), Tuesday, 8 May 2012 18:45 (eleven years ago) link

It's not actually on their site yet (that I can see) but today is the release date so i guess it will be up there by end of night.

Hierophantiasis (Jon Lewis), Tuesday, 8 May 2012 18:47 (eleven years ago) link

Non-sold-out La La Land soundtrack releases which I urgently, urgently recommend:

-Haunted Summer (Christopher Young)
-The Mechanic (Jerry Fielding)
-Dragonslayer (Alex North)
-The Edge (Goldsmith)
-Dark Crystal (Trevor Jones)

Hierophantiasis (Jon Lewis), Tuesday, 8 May 2012 18:57 (eleven years ago) link

Noooooooo may soundtrack is sold out

O_o-O_0-o_O (jjjusten), Tuesday, 8 May 2012 19:09 (eleven years ago) link

Film score CDs are usually very limited edition affairs these days, lots of them sell out quickly.

Hierophantiasis (Jon Lewis), Tuesday, 8 May 2012 19:15 (eleven years ago) link

i would kill all of you for a copy of the score to the original tcm.

listening to this tonight reminded me that my proudest moment as a musician was figuring out how to recreate the weird noise that goes off w/ the flashes in the opening graveyard scene

diamanda ram dass (Edward III), Wednesday, 9 May 2012 04:59 (eleven years ago) link

nicely done - that is such an awesome, intriguing, foreboding noise!

diamanda ram dass (Edward III), Wednesday, 9 May 2012 05:13 (eleven years ago) link

so are all ballots in then?!?

Boris Kutyurkokhov (Eisbaer), Wednesday, 9 May 2012 05:56 (eleven years ago) link

Hence, I will still accept ballots provided they reach my inbox until 11 a.m. EST on Wednesday. Possibly a little longer, but I need to get st3v3 working on images so I can unveil the results starting next week.

diamanda ram dass (Edward III), Wednesday, 9 May 2012 06:19 (eleven years ago) link

I was wrong about the number of ballots. It currently stands at 46.

As much as I kind of like the look of the results as they stand right now, I really want to reach 50 ballots. Come on people.

jungleous butterflies strange birds (Eric H.), Wednesday, 9 May 2012 06:36 (eleven years ago) link

(No new ballots came in today as a result of the ballot extension, so I'm just hoping the tardy people are going to submit at the last second tomorrow.)

jungleous butterflies strange birds (Eric H.), Wednesday, 9 May 2012 06:37 (eleven years ago) link

diamanda ram dass (Edward III), Wednesday, 9 May 2012 12:41 (eleven years ago) link

I'm not sure I can keep biting my tongue about the 2-ton elephant in the room that has not yet submitted a ballot (and, from all I gather, will not).

irony: I can't work on a ballot tonight bcz I have to write about Barnabas Collins.

World Congress of Itch (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 9 May 2012 14:09 (eleven years ago) link

I would really like to see your ballot, Morbz (not a euphemism).

Polly biscuit face (carl agatha), Wednesday, 9 May 2012 14:12 (eleven years ago) link

I think yours and emil.y's are going to have the most "things I not seen and need to see ASAP" value for me.

Polly biscuit face (carl agatha), Wednesday, 9 May 2012 14:13 (eleven years ago) link

things I HAVE not seen, OBVIOUSLY. GOD.

Polly biscuit face (carl agatha), Wednesday, 9 May 2012 14:13 (eleven years ago) link

How have I never known of the existence of "Miracle Mile" before this minute? Looks really fun.

fuuuuuuuuu i woulda totally voted for angst

jesus christ (strongo hulkington's ghost dad), Wednesday, 9 May 2012 15:14 (eleven years ago) link

ha, I did vote for angst. I think it was my one and only non-nommed vote, not sure how it slipped by.

it's at least 15 years ahead of its time in style and technique. wish the director would let the original cut be screened but he's gone all lucas on us.

diamanda ram dass (Edward III), Wednesday, 9 May 2012 15:36 (eleven years ago) link

OK, I am now sitting at 49 ballots. I know I said I would close the polls about one half-hour from now, but I know there's got to be at least one more ballot sitting out there somewhere, right?

jungleous butterflies strange birds (Eric H.), Wednesday, 9 May 2012 15:39 (eleven years ago) link

hey look, that page the good doctor linked to offers a free download of the angst soundtrack!

by klaus schulze!

diamanda ram dass (Edward III), Wednesday, 9 May 2012 15:43 (eleven years ago) link

I think you should hold out for the magic number, Eric. To have accumulated one short of your stated goal & have to stop at that point.. you'd think morbs could at least eke out a quick top-20, right?

fishermen are coveted by whores & stoners (Pillbox), Wednesday, 9 May 2012 15:45 (eleven years ago) link

can I just make up a ballot of every whale, tourner, and silent horror movie and submit it on morbs' behalf

diamanda ram dass (Edward III), Wednesday, 9 May 2012 15:46 (eleven years ago) link

Can't get mine done for 36 hrs at least.

I happen to love Cronenberg's The Fly, smartypants

World Congress of Itch (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 9 May 2012 15:47 (eleven years ago) link

I will wait for Morbs' ballot.

jungleous butterflies strange birds (Eric H.), Wednesday, 9 May 2012 15:49 (eleven years ago) link

If anyone wants an extension beyond, oh, say the next couple hours, they need to state it explicitly in this thread.

jungleous butterflies strange birds (Eric H.), Wednesday, 9 May 2012 15:49 (eleven years ago) link

i could vote twice if that would help, got all these sockpuppets lying around doing nothing.

O_o-O_0-o_O (jjjusten), Wednesday, 9 May 2012 15:52 (eleven years ago) link

I am sending mine RIGHT NOW.

i love the large auns pictures! (Phil D.), Wednesday, 9 May 2012 15:53 (eleven years ago) link

Miracle Mile unnerved the shit outta me when I was 10.

Can't wait for Walter Chaw's upcoming book on the film.

Hierophantiasis (Jon Lewis), Wednesday, 9 May 2012 16:47 (eleven years ago) link

When do you think the rollout will begin, Eric?

O_o-O_0-o_O (jjjusten), Wednesday, 9 May 2012 16:50 (eleven years ago) link

You should be receiving a ballot from "Mustachioed Ponies" soon.
