Still a good distance away from my own personal goal 50-ballot benchmark.

That aside ... a hearty thank you to everyone who has turned in a ballot so far!

As long as the fringe horror nerds have made enough of an appearance to throw some monkeywrenches into the results with their weird and obscure horror movie choices, I'll be happy. The less these poll results look like boilerplate AFI lists, the better, imo.

I can tell you there are some movies whose placements (so far) are surprisingly high; others even more surprisingly low. One or two movies in the current top 10 are somewhat surprising to me too. Didn't realize Jack Frost was so highly regarded.

i realized that my ballot was totally stuffed with movies about women. i hope that let's scare jessica to death gets the respect it deserves. not that it's all that OBSCURE these days but it's not Halloween.

Horror on Sorority Hill (or whatever it was called) was pretty bad. Also my personal worst is FEAR DOT COM. I can't believe I sat through that.

i'm sorry to report that lemora was among the last 5 i cut -- but it is SO GREAT
if you have an extra vote to give, consider donating it to jessica, valerie, or lemora. they all deserve it.

Also it's really a shame that more people haven't seen Demon Lover Diary (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0206681/) -- it's not technically horror (although it's about making a horror movie), but there's a real menacing vibe to it that would make it a horror movie if it weren't a documentary.

Sorority Row? i thought it was aight, in the way that shitty new mainstream horror flicks often carry on the spirit of old B-movie slasher flicks better than deliberate 'grindhouse' homages or whatever.

Yeah, I just remember thinking it was lazy and uninspiring.

I am also bummed that I missed the chance to vote for Insidious, which I really liked in spite of the stupid ghostbusters comedy thread. I also forgot what it was called.

have to confess that i still haven't seen lemora. i wish you had pushed it itt, edward, cuz i've been meaning to see it for years, and it looks like exactly the sort of thing i'd love (valerie made my list*, and that's borderline horror at best).

lemora is by no means perfect, but the carefully composed lighting and set design plus fairy tale trappings elevate the proceedings above its limitations. def more of a horror movie than valerie.

love gozu and want to vote for it but I'm not sure if it's really a horror movie.

Been forever since I've seen it - can't remember much beyond Yakuza skins and dialogue off cue cards.

Nonetheless, it's on the list of nominees - go ahead and vote for it.

overall, it's probably not horror, but it's definitely worth voting for, even on the thinnest of excuses.

was a little disappointed in "that scene". certainly doesn't beat udo kier in the kingdom.
