2 weeks pass...

15th of July:

With a very lengthy mid-season break as predicted, boo.

I wish to incorporate disco into my small business (chap), Tuesday, 22 May 2012 00:12 (11 months ago) Permalink

and by very lengthy you mean "about a year". was really hoping it'd be 8 this summer, 8 this winter.

Clay, Tuesday, 22 May 2012 00:32 (11 months ago) Permalink

so it really is two short seasons.

I love how it's Weiner and Gilligan talking pretty straightforward, then Milch has to pipe in with:

David Milch: The symbol retains its hold long after the substance which the symbol is supposed to represent has lost its real basis. Look. [pulls a stack of scratch-off lottery tickets from his pocket] I just stopped and got gas, so, like an idiot, I bought a bunch of scratch-offs

im late LATE to BrBa (finished season 4 last friday night) but Im having the best time reading this thread, episode by episode, where you early adopters thought the storyline would go or impressions of a character. 20/20, right? Also, Tracer's enthusiasm has been A++ . Very refreshing for an ILX tv thread.

I heard an interview with Aaron Paul the other week, and he just sounds so much like Jesse I half-think of him as the character, it's so dumb.

“But Chapo’s greatest contribution to the evolving tradecraft of drug trafficking was one of those innovations that seem so logical in hindsight it’s a wonder nobody thought of it before: a tunnel. In the late 1980s, Chapo hired an architect to design an underground passageway from Mexico to the United States. What appeared to be a water faucet outside the home of a cartel attorney in the border town of Agua Prieta was in fact a secret lever that, when twisted, activated a hydraulic system that opened a hidden trapdoor underneath a pool table inside the house. The passage ran more than 200 feet, directly beneath the fortifications along the border, and emerged inside a warehouse the cartel owned in Douglas, Ariz. Chapo pronounced it ‘cool.’

this was the best bit for me:

“They erect this fence,” he said, “only to go out there a few days later and discover that these guys have a catapult, and they’re flinging hundred-pound bales of marijuana over to the other side.” He paused and looked at me for a second. “A catapult,” he repeated. “We’ve got the best fence money can buy, and they counter us with a 2,500-year-old technology.”

Tomorrow's the big day, huh? I'm looking forward to it.

Also, for another perspective on the drug trade, I would like to recommend the new telenovela about Pablo Escobar that's on Telemundo. I've only watched two eps so far, but it's surprisingly good and has the feel of BB en español (only set in Colombia in the 80s). At the very least fans of BB will find something to like in it. I've never seen anyone in any other tv show get so upset about an extradition treaty.

from http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/07/12/bryan-cranston-picks-13-favorite-breaking-bad-moments.html :

So flash forward to today: the lovely people who own that house where we shoot the exteriors, they will have, from time to time, someone who will take pictures in front of the White house. They get the address from somewhere. Several people have come with pizzas and they ask if they can put this pizza up to take pictures? And they say, “Go ahead.” They’re very nice people.
