i watched 15 min of new girl a couple nights ago and it was NOT GOOD. there were a bunch of guys trying to teach dermot mcdermot how to drink beer and "be american" and zooey was all into it at this point, woohoo, partytime funzone, etc...and then she hinted several times to dermot mcd that it was time to go to bed, and she actively asked him to go to bed but he stayed with the guys. she turned to the camera, pouted, and walked to the room alone.

also they weren't trying to teach Dermot how to "be American", they were teaching him a nonsensical drinking game they made up called "Great American" which appears to consist of shouting at each other and drinking while crawling around on the furniture (as is common with most drinking games...?)

I do agree that portion of the show was annoying but the followup where Schmidt and Nick stab Dermot was kind of funny

i didn't realize siri was the universal name of the phone voice, i thoguht that was one of zooey's quirky personal touches

it was "true american" but yes that game was hilarious

it was the only 15 min of the show i saw -- it's good to know that it made sense to someone. i don't know anything about the dynamics of the characters or w/e - just relaying what i saw as it appeared to me.

hearing that dermot got stabbed does appeal to me, so thanks.

i felt kind of bad for her, really -- she didn't get to do anything but jump around, provide reaction shots, be a nag, and get spurned. that's kind of a bummer, but i'm sure she gets to have more fun and/or do more things in other parts of the show.

the two funniest scenes this show has ever had were when she was trying out her "kinky" sex moves on Justin Long and pretty much the entire episode with their landlord

honestly, the landlord episode is one of my favorite episodes of television from the past season (others include the Community Christmas episode and pretty much the entirety of Happy Endings)

what bothers me the most about the Sam Jackson one is the part where he says "remind me to put the gazpatcho on ice...unless you like hotspatcho" - I get that Siri is supposed to recognize conversational English, but literally telling jokes to an inanimate object is something nobody would ever do unless they were actually a lunatic

I'm bitter because Canadian iPhones don't have the functionality for Siri to look up places nearby for you :(
