Will - although no one's come flat out and said it (that i've seen) - it sounds like she's taken a few guys for a ride and may've made money doing it. so it might be more than just people's internet "duty" happening here.

gabbneb, Tuesday, 16 October 2007 18:19 (sixteen years ago) link

i was less than convinced it was actually her.

Was it the fakeboobies tag that gave it away? I mean, srsly dude, 20/20 hindsight and everything.

I mean, I don't want to defend her, but the idea she just invented a kid, then wrote about him on ILX, in her blog and everywhere else for years for seemingly no reason at all seems kinda doubtful, unless she's like totally crazy, which I also doubt.

Go live in the real world. Some people are manipulators and liars. Not saying that she's in need of something (like say love or whatever). This is what makes interests: She could have spoken up and defended herself. Then again I guess it's understandable that she fled without any defense...

so nobody on ILX has actually met her IRL?

Not even she did.

stevienixed, Tuesday, 16 October 2007 18:20 (sixteen years ago) link

Pretty pointless to dispute details of her life like dogs and kids? I mean, obv there IS a person who represented as Luna, for all I know she runs a pit rescue center. The only operative point is that she was dicking people over & being wilfully false in dealings with them off-board and in their expectations for "real-life". Once or twice is a misunderstanding, something you learn from, but there were a handful of serious heartbreaks plus the other handful of casual scams/no-shows.

If all the involved parties actually WANT the pretense and it makes them feel better to be "in" a "relationship" that doesn't exist outside of internets, that's one thing. But the evidence is in that multiple people thought otherwise.

chaki, Tuesday, 16 October 2007 18:22 (sixteen years ago) link

guys, it seems entirely possible that

(a) those that have corresponded with her are actually getting the "real" luna, in the sense that she does in fact have a kid and that the problems/concerns/thoughts/whatever she's related to them are real and that

(b) the doubters are also right: she's posted fake pictures of herself, and led people on, and made shit up and pulled some bizarro nutter wait if you make shit up on the internet you sorta can't avoid it in real life lol my phone is locked in the trunk etc bullshit. i mean, if you've posted airbrushed not-you pictures of yourself in lingerie and made arrangements to meet someone, and, moreover, made a point of making your appearance a substantial part of your so-called internet persona, you're obviously going to avoid said someone in real life because the real will just so blatantly grind against the fabricated.

...it's not like the two are mutually exclusive. which is what makes the whole situation even sadder, if you ask me. i doubt that EVERYTHING is fabricated; she's probably just done up the bits she feels need doing up, and been honest about the bits she feels meet a certain standard (as to what that standard is...).

Er, if you've interacted with a person for years and thought her to be trustworthy, and the find out that some or most of the stuff she's said has been a lie, plus that she's seriously fucked some other people up with her lies, I think it's quite understandable to be shocked, even if all this happened online. It's not like offline and online are two different worlds, where in the former you trust everyone and in the latter doubt everyone.

The ILXors I've met in real life have been pretty much the same as they were online. Just because of this one fucked-up case doesn't mean I'm gonna start doubting everyone for no proper reason.
