anyway the recurring zing is like the funniest thing ever in my book, i say keep on keeping on

they only stay funny as long as they continue to get a rise out of people though

s1ocki, Wednesday, 14 January 2009 05:58 (fifteen years ago) link

i mean the drowning thing especially is so nonsensical and so obviously based on just poor wording of a thread title it's only funny so far as whiney takes the bait

s1ocki, Wednesday, 14 January 2009 05:59 (fifteen years ago) link

i also think its ... something ... that dom is so good at writing zings about drowning

77 heres a good recent example how to carry the weight (no passantino) of a recurring zing from our friends across the pond:

No, it's not newsworthy at all, except to HYS types who sit in front of their PC/TV/radio waiting to be offended or self-righteous bores.

Eventually, of course, no one will be allowed to say anything, privately or publicly, that is likely to offend anyone else. If we go down that road we might as well vote in the Nazis now and have done with it.

What people say in private is their own business and nobody else's.

No righteous outrage at the people who sold these things to the tabloids, either, I note.

What are the "issues at stake" here again? That the media value non-stories that sell papers over worthy issues that don't? That they're hypocritical? That most things that appear on the front of the Sun are less important than dozens of things going on around the world?

Is there a single person on this thread who doesn't know all that already and needs it all spelt out to them? Christ. This is sub-student level 'debate'.

Yes, reporting on the Royals' racist epithets is the rocky road to Nazism.

― Zelda Zonk, Wednesday, January 14, 2009 7:28 AM (34 minutes ago) Bookmark Suggest Ban Permalink

If we're going to object to racist remarks by publicly funded individuals we might as well vote in the Nazis now and have done with it. Find a flaw in that logic I dare you.

I'll sign the treaty that restricts the drowning theme, but my use of it in the past few days has more been about the joke itself than it has been about Whiney.

I mean, if we're not allowed to tie a meme around some poor soul's neck like an albatross after a one-off careless comment, then why have I been carrying around this .jpg, just waiting for the right moment when one S.M.C. makes his grand entrance onto the WS thread?

two weeks pass...

This is not a film, but it's one of my favorite things. Check out the old long-running box for Twister:

"Why yes, young black child, feel free to play Twister with us in complete racial harmony! No wait, stop touching the white girls. Right. Umm ... why don't you go back over there and work the spinner for us, 'kay?"

Classic Twister: Fun for Everyone (Except Your Black Friend Who Has to Sit in Back Operating the Spinner Because We Don't Want to Show Him Actually Touching and Crawling Around on the Little White Girls)

― nabisco, Monday, July 21, 2008 1:53 PM (6 months ago) Bookmark Suggest Ban Permalink

This reminds me of another one:

ihttp://www.boscovs.com/wcsstore/boscovs/images/store/product/images/4191581474645.jpg

I always hated this old Twister box. I mean, look at the smug white kid with the redhead crawling all over him. And then look at this shit: Hasbro apparently decided they couldn't have a picture of the black kid actually touching the white girls, so they've put him off in the corner to tend to the spinner? It's pretty much explicitly racist, and as a result imposes some weird sexual tension over the whole system here. (Well, that and that look on the other boy's face: is there like a fifth, not-visible person playing that's making him make that face?)

For the record they have updates the Twister box and now black people are allowed to play.

few years back shakey let his guard down and got comfortable enough to admit him & wifey mo have "s&m fantasies" while watching rachel ray - i think he meant on some wack alex in nyc "beyonce should be boiled in oil" b.s. but me & some other bandwagoners ran with it - started acting like shakey mo seriously wanted to rape and torture rachel ray - was A+ funny for a few months before he wised up the only reason anybody kept mentioning it was because he got madd so dude started shrugging it off and the lolz died out

and what, Friday, 30 January 2009 16:31 (fifteen years ago) link

That's not even the half of it.

There was some thread where he said that he and his wife sit around, thinking up different ways they could rape and dismember Rachel Ray.

After three years, I'm trying to give Shakes a little leeway. But man, like Nate P, it's kinda hard to let something like that go.

it's pretty easy to repeat jokes without realizing you've done it...i've clicked on threads to post a corny-ass joke then realize i made it YEARS ago on the same thread. this has happened like 5 times so far.
