This show is surprisingly good.

LaMonte, Wednesday, 4 April 2012 01:38 (twelve years ago) link

it's funny because i totally had my wife on the anti-deschanel bandwagon last fall when the show started, but now i'm totally a fan of the show and she just looks at me sideways for being able to tolerate zooey in it

some dude, Wednesday, 4 April 2012 01:42 (twelve years ago) link

this show has hit a stride

toandos, Wednesday, 4 April 2012 06:25 (twelve years ago) link

yeah, the rhythms and characters have really started to click.

Frank Youngenstein (Phil D.), Wednesday, 4 April 2012 13:02 (twelve years ago) link

I like this show a lot.

Schmidt in particular is becoming one of the great sitcom characters.

trishyb, Wednesday, 4 April 2012 13:36 (twelve years ago) link

Schmidt is great but god they have to stop with the fatsuit flashbacks

I am so happy that they've started really developing a personality for Winston

THIS TRADE SERVES ZERO FOOTBALL PURPOSE (DJP), Wednesday, 4 April 2012 13:56 (twelve years ago) link

yeah he's been definitely coming into his own

some dude, Wednesday, 4 April 2012 13:57 (twelve years ago) link

I was going to say, I though Winston's speech at the end of the episode was hilarious! I hope that side of him is shown a bit more.

Respectfully, Tyrese Gibson (Nicole), Wednesday, 4 April 2012 13:57 (twelve years ago) link

the whole "raccoon hands" thing was killing me

Both of these.

I would like an odd-couple sitcom where Schmidt and Denis Duffy share a house.

I wish there was a separate New Girl thread, this thread title is a little awkward.

Respectfully, Tyrese Gibson (Nicole), Saturday, 7 April 2012 13:37 (twelve years ago) link

If only there was some way to create a thread for one specific topic...

s.clover, Sunday, 8 April 2012 02:36 (twelve years ago) link

(enter fairy godmother, stage right; she waves wand flamboyantly, causing cascades of fairy sparkles to erupt)

A separate New Girl thread.

Aimless, Sunday, 8 April 2012 02:54 (twelve years ago) link

should been "New Girl: damn, damn, damn does this show look good"

I'm open to your making a mod request for that.

Yeah, "without eyeliner & makeup", but still with styling, lighting and Photoshop I'd imagine.

Chewshabadoo, Monday, 30 April 2012 11:12 (eleven years ago) link

god that makes me angry

what/how/why?

StanM, Monday, 30 April 2012 11:56 (eleven years ago) link

xxpost: according to this http://www.psdisasters.com/2012/04/photoshop-round-up-links-we-love_28.html : "People Magazine's "Most Beautiful People" issue has a special section featuring stars without make-up or Photoshop." - no mention of lighting or styling obv, but yeah

StanM, Monday, 30 April 2012 11:58 (eleven years ago) link

it was a joke, referring to the "styling, lighting and Photoshop" comment

Number None, Monday, 30 April 2012 11:59 (eleven years ago) link

can we talk about how awful her iPhone commercial is, can we stop pretending that people act like this when nobody else is around

you can expect punches, kicks and even worse (frogbs), Monday, 30 April 2012 13:11 (eleven years ago) link

I am 100% certain she acts like that when other people aren't around

If the ad showed him washing a hat...

Mark G, Monday, 30 April 2012 13:21 (eleven years ago) link

I get Siri to do a lot of googling/music playing/weather checking for me when no one else is around. :(

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Monday, 30 April 2012 13:23 (eleven years ago) link

ad is unbelievably awful. "Deliver me hairslides while I dance about soup"

stet, Monday, 30 April 2012 13:25 (eleven years ago) link

i watched 15 min of new girl a couple nights ago and it was NOT GOOD. there were a bunch of guys trying to teach dermot mcdermot how to drink beer and "be american" and zooey was all into it at this point, woohoo, partytime funzone, etc...and then she hinted several times to dermot mcd that it was time to go to bed, and she actively asked him to go to bed but he stayed with the guys. she turned to the camera, pouted, and walked to the room alone.

wtf is up with this show?!

former personal denim advisor to the mayor, (La Lechera), Monday, 30 April 2012 13:26 (eleven years ago) link

also they weren't trying to teach Dermot how to "be American", they were teaching him a nonsensical drinking game they made up called "Great American" which appears to consist of shouting at each other and drinking while crawling around on the furniture (as is common with most drinking games...?)

I do agree that portion of the show was annoying but the followup where Schmidt and Nick stab Dermot was kind of funny

I'M THAT POSTA, AAAAAAAAAH (DJP), Monday, 30 April 2012 13:30 (eleven years ago) link

i didn't realize siri was the universal name of the phone voice, i thoguht that was one of zooey's quirky personal touches

some dude, Monday, 30 April 2012 13:31 (eleven years ago) link

it was "true american" but yes that game was hilarious

some dude, Monday, 30 April 2012 13:31 (eleven years ago) link

it was the only 15 min of the show i saw -- it's good to know that it made sense to someone. i don't know anything about the dynamics of the characters or w/e - just relaying what i saw as it appeared to me.

hearing that dermot got stabbed does appeal to me, so thanks.

former personal denim advisor to the mayor, (La Lechera), Monday, 30 April 2012 13:33 (eleven years ago) link

nah, I can only assume Zooey would name is Moondoggie or something xp

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Monday, 30 April 2012 13:35 (eleven years ago) link

It, not is. Siri. You know.

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Monday, 30 April 2012 13:35 (eleven years ago) link

Zooey "Moondoggie" Deschanel

I'M THAT POSTA, AAAAAAAAAH (DJP), Monday, 30 April 2012 13:35 (eleven years ago) link

i felt kind of bad for her, really -- she didn't get to do anything but jump around, provide reaction shots, be a nag, and get spurned. that's kind of a bummer, but i'm sure she gets to have more fun and/or do more things in other parts of the show.

former personal denim advisor to the mayor, (La Lechera), Monday, 30 April 2012 13:37 (eleven years ago) link

the two funniest scenes this show has ever had were when she was trying out her "kinky" sex moves on Justin Long and pretty much the entire episode with their landlord

I'M THAT POSTA, AAAAAAAAAH (DJP), Monday, 30 April 2012 13:39 (eleven years ago) link

she tried out her kinky sex moves on her landlord AND justin long? yikes.

former personal denim advisor to the mayor, (La Lechera), Monday, 30 April 2012 13:40 (eleven years ago) link

justin long IS her landlord
