I found this just now - I wrote it to Spencer on his second birthday... it amazes me how much we've both changed in the last 6 years - but you know, he is the best thing that ever happened to me.

So this makes the kid what, twelve years old now?

James Redd and the Blecchs, Tuesday, 16 October 2007 17:56 (sixteen years ago) link

2003-6 = 1997.

Tuomas, Tuesday, 16 October 2007 17:57 (sixteen years ago) link

boys = so easily fooled by big boobies

Yerac, Tuesday, 16 October 2007 17:58 (sixteen years ago) link

where is that from, james?

chaki, Tuesday, 16 October 2007 17:58 (sixteen years ago) link

But "in the last six years" implies "since his second birthday" = he was 8 in 2003 = 12 in 2007.

jaymc, Tuesday, 16 October 2007 17:59 (sixteen years ago) link

(I noticed that, too.)

MB: You're wonderful, and I think everyone in the world should have a friend like you. I adore you from the crown of your fedora all the way down to your wingtips, baby.

is this about m white

and what, Tuesday, 16 October 2007 17:59 (sixteen years ago) link

I think "in the six years since then" might've implied that. "In the last 6 years" might just mean the 6 years he's lived.

Tuomas, Tuesday, 16 October 2007 18:00 (sixteen years ago) link

carne asada, Tuesday, 16 October 2007 18:02 (sixteen years ago) link

I actually agree with Tuomas about this, think that might be a red herring.

I am tired of reading the dramarama. It's too long, so I'm not all caught up, but I have this to say:

LOL at people who decide to be, like, COMMUNITY CRUSADERS fighting the evils of OTHER PEOPLE RARRRR!! It's like christ chaki, do you think you're a fucking knight templar or some shit? it's the internet and we're all just personas behind text and stupid.jpg jokes. If someone's gonna waste their money and life on some girl who burns them, welcome to THE WORLD OF THE INTERNET where it fucking happens. Caveat Amor and all that fucking shit. You're nobody's hero, you're still just a cunt with a computer.

I'm fairly certain that at least one of those is about an ILXor.

jaymc, Tuesday, 16 October 2007 18:04 (sixteen years ago) link

Jeez, guys...

Aw thanks! He's totally stoked to not only be in the double digits, but also because we're taking him and his best friend to Disneyland tomorrow.

She once fake-mailed me a book. Claimed it got lost in the mail. I wonder what kind of thrill she got out of that?

Melissa W, Tuesday, 16 October 2007 18:06 (sixteen years ago) link

I mean, I don't want to defend her, but the idea she just invented a kid, then wrote about him on ILX, in her blog and everywhere else for years for seemingly no reason at all seems kinda doubtful, unless she's like totally crazy, which I also doubt.

(several xposts)

Tuomas, Tuesday, 16 October 2007 18:06 (sixteen years ago) link

I really can't go into details here, not for reasons of coyness but to avoid upsetting an old and dear friend, but everything that Chaki and Gear have been saying on this thread is 100% correct - if anything, they've avoided one of the most contemptible aspects of the whole sorry saga, trust me

Ward Fowler, Tuesday, 16 October 2007 18:06 (sixteen years ago) link

i remember the "what do you look like in yr underwear" thread or some such - she'd posted a shot of "herself" and i was less than convinced it was actually her. or anyone that would post to ilx. i think that's what a bunch of people might be referring to.

huge xpost

for what it's worth, why don't we all just agree to leave her alone?

(i'm not trying to be noble or anything, i just feel a little embarrassed about my part in this, and the way this is all playing out)

Wow could people who "don't have time" to read the posts keep their fucking mouths shut? If you say flat out that you think learning the details is too much work, then don't make judgements about them.

The kid that turned 10 in 2007 (see upthread, 12th September) but that was 4 in January 2003?

I only spoke about details I knew about, namely, people acting like it's their duty to the internet or something. Good try on sonning me, though. When I start talking about details I am not aware of, PLEASE let me know.

so nobody on ILX has actually met her IRL?

brownie, Tuesday, 16 October 2007 18:12 (sixteen years ago) link

It was never a crusade, for starters, it snowballed from casual comments on about four different threads. But nice try.

Laurel, Tuesday, 16 October 2007 18:12 (sixteen years ago) link

shit, who is gear! now?

mookieproof, Tuesday, 16 October 2007 18:13 (sixteen years ago) link

I've never met her but I've talked to her on the phone and heard the dogs in the background and her son in the background, too, for whatever that's worth to y'all.
