BURMA SHAVE

I have never seen the Hyundai ads, heard Pomplamoose, or clicked on this thread before but I am intrigued by the fact that it has 1,753 messages I could click to read. Are they good? Do they have more pictures of the cute girl from this band? Based on the excerpted quotes in the visible part of the thread, the band is indeed insufferable and terrible and thinks they are clever but are not ("beretta"?), but the girl is cute. OK thanks! Bye!

haha yeah I know just the way she phrased the post quoted upthread seemed really forced-quirky and stupid.

Also I am drunk and when I posted that I thought she misspelled something called "Baretta."

ugh just made the mistake of clicking on that "September" cover, wow, what a total failure, not sure how much of my disgust is based on the video's hyper-cutesiness which, basically, so this whole band's deal is like what if your friends who are a couple and every one of their facebook updates is them doing something OMG SO SUPER COUPLE CUTE WE ARE CUTE AND FUN, what if those facebook updates gained sentience and became a band? But facebook updates are short, and four minutes and eleven seconds is long, and the backing track is okay for bedroom pop but the vocals are really thin and weak and wispy. And Hyundai is selling cars to this? Okay.

was selling. long since off the air i think.

wow! seems like we have the pro-electronicky group and the anti-electronicky group. here's what i can promise you: as musicians and artists, we will always be making music, one way or another. we will put care and thought into our harmony, melodies, lyrics, and arrangements. we will never let money dictate the direction of our art. we will make music all the time, as solo artists, and as partners. we will not let genre constrain us. we will make music that we love. we hope you love it, too.

we love you guys. sorry for the long hiatus we've taken from our channel. nataly has been working on a solo record, and i've spent the last year listening to and learning how to make electronic music. both nat and i have been listening to a lot of EDM these days (maybe more me, really), particularly Koan Sound, Kill the Noise, Bar 9, Justice, Swedish House Mafia, and some old stuff, too, like Daft Punk and Aphex Twin. we don't want to become a dubstep band or anything, but we're so fascinated by this new wave of music that we really want to incorporate some of the ideas into our sound. this song is our first attempt at doing so. we hope you dig it! more songs and videos coming soon! thanks for staying tuned!

Such a broad range of exciting and interesting electronic music. I think the dance direction will be a killer section of the Pomplamoose biopic.

a hint at divisions in the Pomplamoose camp?

If my partner forced me to listen to Justice and Swedish House Mafia, that would lead pretty quickly to hinting at divisions if you know what I mean.

I want to like what they're doing, though. I think it's interesting to see video accompanying every track. Reminds me of this Anthony Rochester video:

Which is also indiepop for the public radio audience. Somehow it's a lot more charming, though.

I think part of the charm of twee is that it's usually a modest and humble sound. Pamplamoose, however, are seething with false modesty but are actually really privileged, arrogant and narcissistic.

EDM-age Pomplamoose hasn't really lived up to my expectations. It seems like a whole new brand of irritation, which is less fun than it would be if they properly supplemented the irritation they already had going on.

Also it's kind of perversely enjoyable at points.
