I love the first one, but a bit pricey at $115. The mid-80s Freddie is even more.

Too many of these aren't articulated. Not action figures, IMO.

Flavor Flav, obviously. Ghostface, Eazy-E and Kool Keith as Black Elvis, too.

I'd be shocked if Bootsy Collins didn't already have an action figure/doll out there somewhere.

And yeah, Prince really did wear those chaps.

ZZ Top - the whole band - would be another good one.

Would you want a Captain Beefheart circa 1969 or Captain Beefheart circa 1981/82?

I used to have one of those Lemmy figures on my desk at Metal Edge, but I didn't take it with me when I left.

Anybody say Diamanda Galas yet?

Or Wesley Willis?

Looking at the Bobbleheads site, there are categories for movies, television, politics, cartoons, religion, military, but none for music/rock stars. Lame!

Some of the suggestions above are entertaining, but would never, ever happen as they're far too obscure for most toy companies to mass market, as most people wouldn't recognize them. I suppose someone could start a boutique shop that puts out limited editions that would cost hundreds of dollars, but, meh.

I took it as which icons would make cool-looking action figures/dolls not which icons would make the best-selling figures. I'm assuming people don't know any of them. If you want to change the question to best-selling figures then (and assuming they haven't been done yet):

Beyonce
Coldplay
Lady Gaga
Radiohead
Katy Perry
Snoop Dogg
Rihanna
Black Eyed Peas
Brandon Flowers
Eminem
The Beatles
Muse
Pink Floyd
Queen
Led Zeppelin

yes, thought about Diamanda Galas!
but her figure should have some functional sound module for distinctional reasons (Maila Nurmi/Vampira, Morticia Jones and so on)

calling.....Chris & Cosey (twice the price, a lot of LED blinking hardware as stage set)

meisenfek, Monday, 2 April 2012 07:01 (twelve years ago) link

It would be great if you could pull a string in Diamanda's back and she'd start chanting in multi-octave Latin.

Yma Sumac

I watched the Lemmy documentary last night, and he had a kick-ass figure of himself, still in the box amidst all his clutter. It looked cooler than the all silver/gold/black versions posted above. Must be long gone to the land of collector scum now.

This one looks to me like King Diamond, if he was barrel-chested like the abomidable snowman in Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer:

Do Frankie Goes To Hollywood count as "rock icons"?

Nah. And I even kind of like that one album, sorta. But no. Not even a crappy one.

King Diamond would be rad, but Glenn Danzig, despite getting knocked out by that dude from Northside Kings(which actually makes this better) is the hands down winner here...

I Want A Wino Doll

KnuckleBonz announced its production of their own Lemmy doll to come out this Fall, as well as Ronny James Dio. Most of Knucklebonz’s Rock Iconz series are priced at $115 or higher, which is a lot, but what I like about them is that they’ve done statues of slightly less mainstream musicians like Zakk Wylde, Dimebag Darrell, George Lynch and Keith Emerson. Email at i✧✧✧@knuckleb✧✧✧.c✧✧ and tell 'em you want a Wino doll!

Yeah, less mainstream musicians who have their own branded guitar strings.

Janelle Monae
Andrew WK
Lightning Bolt
Outkast
Paul Simonon (with bass accessory)
Kim Gordon
Rick Rubin

Andrew WK and Outkast OTM.

Y'know, so many of the action figures I had as a kid were just weird things from forgotten toy lines that my mom found at yard sales and which found roles in my collection as, like ''evil looking guy'' or ''dragon thing with cape'' or whatever. I hope someday some kid out there somewhere can have the experience of using Andrew WK as a generic street-goon in a beat-em-up scenario, or maybe some sort of wizard.

Someone should make a Momus doll where you pull a string attached to it's back and it says random Momus ilx posts.
