Any time I've admitted to tension between a lover or friend I became aware of it from my own snippy remarks about stupid shit, so I sympathize. elmo otm.

haha, i hope i don't come off like some self-appointed relationship guru, just want to share my perspective.

i think this is serious (elmo argonaut), Tuesday, 27 March 2012 16:36 (2 years ago) Permalink

sounds true enough. have nearly had relationships implode on me because we didn't have that talk.

the best part is that sometimes you realize that you're having the same conversation over and over again!

i think this is serious (elmo argonaut), Tuesday, 27 March 2012 16:46 (2 years ago) Permalink

He talked me into lunch today and we had a bit of the conversation. Tentatively, going well, especially compared to the totally distanced un-presence I've been getting for a few weeks. Acknowledgment of issues happened, which is new. Clearly, I'm waiting on follow through to some extent but it was nice just to feel validated about certain things. Allowing each other to ha e a bit more space is going to be key, and navigating criticism vs. defensiveness, but I think we're good?

Sorry for bombarding y'all with unnecessary drama, I guess.

'I' statements we're useful. Thanks, Elmo.

HOLY SHIT. I wish there was a drag-queen-costume equivalent of Rule 34.

In the previous gay thread Corey mentioned the preacher in front of Old Navy on State St. (ya can't get to heaven if you're a homosexual (also, smokin' them cigarettes, smokin' dope, lookin' funny)).

If that fella is there later tonight I'm going to give him a dollar.

Damn flailing pinky!!!

I've been missing the South a bit recently, so reminder of crazy Pentacostals and other religiosos is a good reality check (not that homophobia or Bible thumpers is only a Southern thing).

I miss summer nights in the south, not much else.

tanuki, Saturday, 7 April 2012 04:44 (2 years ago) Permalink

When I saw The Hunger Games I really missed the NC mountains. So many stunning views and SO many waterfalls! Plus some really special culture. And gorgeous coastal towns and beaches a few hours away. But I definitely wouldn't want to live there.

I've been missing NOLA like crazy (missed what had become a late winter traditional visit) and I feel drawn to live there (again-ish).

so my bf and i are seeing a couple's counselor. don't worry; no crisis. we're coming up on 5 years together and this is kind of just a kick-the-tires, check-the-oil sort of tune-up.

anyway, our therapist is a v v dapper older man, probably gay, and funny as hell. it's actually pretty great! AND mostly covered by my boyfriend's health plan.

i'm feeling like a lucky man.

I've always wondered why Judy was a gay icon and that story sort of answered that question (I previously thought that it was just the pills and booze) and I sort of get it, but the her music says nothing to me about my life, I guess. Or actually IDK if it does b/c like Brodie, I only really know Somewhere Over the Rainbow and "that song about the train."
