A DARK HORSEMAN WILL COME CLAD ALL IN BLACK BEARING THE MARK OF THE BEAST

remy bean, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 19:20 (fifteen years ago) link

RE: 40th birthdays. I'm going to get there first, dudes. I try not to think about it. ;_;

I would like to have 1,000 drinks next week. Maybe I'll be able to make it up. (Someone has to stop me before I get to drink 995, though.)

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 19:21 (fifteen years ago) link

Hi Dere, I've been looking forward to your visit ever since you told us about it!

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 19:21 (fifteen years ago) link

I will not be in MN next week ;_;

Though you know...I wonder if there's some weird cheap random last minute LA/MN flight.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 19:21 (fifteen years ago) link

i'm not the knowitall guy i swear you guys; i just enjoy the world and want to know about it.

i wonder who you met, remy. i feel like i work with only girls now

jergins, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 19:22 (fifteen years ago) link

Meantime, this:

last night i met a guy who worked w. jergins. he said jergins was a very nice guy who 'basically knew everything about everything' and i said 'yeah, he's a sharp cookie' and the guy said 'he is even more than that. he is like one of those blue tins with a hundred cookies inside, the kind that people bring back from traveling to holland.'

= the greatest compliment ever.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 19:22 (fifteen years ago) link

Ned, GET HERE. jergins, too, especially if you are like those cookies!

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 19:22 (fifteen years ago) link

Pick a day and place and let me know, basically any time between sunday and when the republicans kick off. Transit directions from the Xcel centre would help too.

you can all decide if I should be banned from I love style.

Ned, if you can magic yourself to MN, bring flan.

Ed, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 19:23 (fifteen years ago) link

No flan, no credibility?

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 19:23 (fifteen years ago) link

The flan IS that good, really.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 19:24 (fifteen years ago) link

jërg -

he did not mean you were a knowitall, he was paying you a compliment.

i don't remember his name, except he works @ same place you do and is tall, a little chunky, with floppy hair and two young kids @ home, also he pissed off his wife by buying himself one ticket to nick cave on his upcoming anniversary.

remy bean, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 19:25 (fifteen years ago) link

Sadly, cheapest option seems to be around $360 -- not unaffordable but not feasible given other planned expenses.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 19:26 (fifteen years ago) link

xpost oh yeah that guy's awesome. he's always at the record store pulling down old used indie stuff i'd totally forgotten about, rockin out with two little babies at home.

jergins, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 19:26 (fifteen years ago) link

When will Ned visit our fair Twin Cities? ;_;

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 19:28 (fifteen years ago) link

I must rob a bank.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 19:31 (fifteen years ago) link

omg that dude's desc of jergs is way better than when i asked lingy what jergs and lxy were like and he was like 'uh, they're cool'.

job of wonder is maybe not job of wonder, per se, but is at a place of wonder which probably more than makes up for it. i have to run it by someone and then when it is official i will reveal but for now i have an offer :D

tehresa, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 19:32 (fifteen years ago) link

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 19:33 (fifteen years ago) link

HI DERE will visit NYC... soonish! I hope.

HI DERE, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 19:34 (fifteen years ago) link

remy bean, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 19:35 (fifteen years ago) link

Okay, where is that? Looks AWESOME!

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 19:36 (fifteen years ago) link

i just read about that house! it sounds pretty amazing; the owner described it as a constant work in progress, weathering all the storms etc.

would be a great place to party

jergins, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 19:37 (fifteen years ago) link

HI DERE, don't tease!

tehresa, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 19:39 (fifteen years ago) link

narragansett bay, rhode island. my friend's dad drove a boat launch for a living, shuttling people to their sailboats from the marina. he had befriended the owners, who invited him to a costume party. he wanted to drink, so he invited his daughter (my friend, jw's ex-girlfriend) who invited a half-dozen of us. we crashed the party and sat on the roof. the place is like a labyrinth inside: rooms cut into rock, floors at two dozen different height, secret chambers and doors, etc...

my ex-, jon's ex, jon's ex's sister, and two other friends played a three hour game of manhunt inside, running parallel but seperate to the proper party. finally our host's daughter did too good a job of hiding, slipped on a wet rock and fell in the water. she was fine, but i jumped in to rescue her just-in-case, and was a hero for the better part of three minutes before everybody realized i just wanted to go swimming.

remy bean, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 19:40 (fifteen years ago) link

omg that sounds awesome

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 19:44 (fifteen years ago) link

woahhhhhh

tehresa, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 19:45 (fifteen years ago) link

it is the closest thing to a bond lair that exists in the real world, i think.

remy bean, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 19:46 (fifteen years ago) link

WANT

FAX ME, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 19:51 (fifteen years ago) link

white celine, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 19:54 (fifteen years ago) link

So far as I know FAX ME does not know French, celine.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 19:59 (fifteen years ago) link

mon dieu!

white celine, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 20:00 (fifteen years ago) link

lol. quel domage!

tehresa, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 20:01 (fifteen years ago) link

i have great admiration for ppl like jergz and jaq and tombot and laurel, who always seem to know about stuff, completely random stuff and v v practical stuff. jordan is like that too, and the complete opposite of me: someone will ask me about something and the convo will go something like this -

'oh yeah i know about that! it's like this... ummm.. this thing does this thing that makes go... ummm no wait i think i have that wrong... i can't remember if maybe it does this other thing instead... oh shit... no wait i'm thinking of something totally different. sorry i have no idea what it is you're talking about'

Rubyredd, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 20:01 (fifteen years ago) link

also: big shout out to REMY! i just found a borders in alameda so i applied online.

the 'personality quiz' at the end is v v scary.

Rubyredd, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 20:02 (fifteen years ago) link

Okay, very curious about the personality quiz now!

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 20:08 (fifteen years ago) link

those things are always really weird.

tehresa, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 20:16 (fifteen years ago) link

'most ppl are untrustworthy
o strongly agree
o agree
o disagree
o strongly disagree'

'you can't stand annoying people
o strongly agree
o agree
o disagree
o strongly disagree'

^^^OH SHIT i just realised that i'm not sure if 'annoying' is a verb or an adjective!!!

Rubyredd, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 20:24 (fifteen years ago) link

they mean adjective. hehe. that is the kind of thing i would ponder during standardized tests at school!!

tehresa, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 20:26 (fifteen years ago) link

I want that house, so very beautiful.

Ed, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 20:28 (fifteen years ago) link

that's what i thought, but i think it might be a trick question

Rubyredd, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 20:29 (fifteen years ago) link

i am convinced this is why i did not get half the retail jobs i applied for after college.

tehresa, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 20:31 (fifteen years ago) link

Because you hate annoying people?

HI DERE, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 20:42 (fifteen years ago) link

I've never seen a test like that. What the hell?

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 20:43 (fifteen years ago) link

i just read about that house!

Yeah, same here. Place rules.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 20:44 (fifteen years ago) link

it's probably some shit they have a whole HR department monitoring, and they match it to some huge myers-briggs chart or something.

Rubyredd, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 20:56 (fifteen years ago) link

admittedly, i prefer multi choice to questions like: 'list your strong points; list your weak points' i mean seriously what the shit is that kind of thing about.

Rubyredd, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 20:57 (fifteen years ago) link

Ed, am I correct in remembering that you are a fellow that enjoys beverages of the interesting and obscure beer variety? if so, i have a place picked out, and as convenience would have it, i live within 5 minutes of the excel so transportation should be a non-issue.

FAX ME, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 20:59 (fifteen years ago) link

That sounds like a very awesome plan.

Ed, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 21:00 (fifteen years ago) link

jealousssssssss

tehresa, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 21:07 (fifteen years ago) link

ok lol who is Seven Seven on Facebook?

HI DERE, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 21:46 (fifteen years ago) link

Hahah.
