We did install another new profiles machine, however we almost immediately discovered that it had a faulty RAM stick in it (doesn't that sound familiar...). We have hopefully removed the correct pair of modules, and it's currently undergoing burn-in tests. If this is successful, we will be able to migrate some of the profiles off to it to improve speed. This will happen within a week or two.
Edit: we haven't the faintest idea what this will do to performance - it'll make it faster, but how much faster is yet to be seen. The big performance jump happens when we start using the new profiles database, but this will be in a week or two's time, when we've determined it's stable enough to put data on.
So I assume top artists still wont update but recent tracks will as normal.Anyone know what happened to the recommendations page?

i felt this was 'cheating' so my list of tracks is quite low numbers wise as it's 100% 'honest' (not to say i don't listen to stuff via random play but then skip if it's one i don't wanna listen to of course).

Audioscrobbler Project NewsDevelopment blog, upgrade notices, special announcements etc.
Posted by RJ on May 9 2005, 22:38 BSTNew stuff / Sit-repNine Inch Nails storm the Audioscrobbler charts! Looks like their new album is popular :)
We've been tuning the submission system this weekend. It's alive again now, and will start catching up. New accounts will be available once it's caught up.
Slight update to artist pages; now you can see the subtle difference between songs that get played the most, and songs that get played by the most people.
Artist-relation data has been updated again, see the explore music menu point, or the big fat search box on the homepage.
Moderations - the mod system has been removed as we are replacing it with a super-duper new MusicBrainz oriented mod system that will kick some serious ass.
Also being worked on at the moment:- "Tagging" (flickr/delicious-esque)- Native software player for Last.fm radio- Proper album stats for Audioscrobbler- Musicbrainz goodness, so we can use advanced relationship data etc. (click here for an example)- More hardware, faster everything, cure for cancer.
RJ(oh, and fixing forum replies.. ;)

It's because Abby McDonald started a thread about it. She posted it as a mystery mp3 on her blog and asked everyone to guess who it was.
