Awesomeness all around yet again today. Really shocked "Smooth Criminal" landed outside the top 10.

I guess this means I can stop holding out hope for the as-awesome-as-"Centipede"-in-my-opinion "Tell Me I'm Not Dreaming."

I would like to thank this thread for making me listen to lots of Janet Jackson again, because sometimes I forget even though the "Miss You Much" cassingle was the first music thing I ever owned and I made my cousins all learn the "Rhythm Nation" dance

Glad to see "Centipede" (my #1) and "Stranger in Moscow" (my #6) made it so high. "Stranger in Moscow" was the last time I was really moved by a MJ song, I think it's just a brilliant slow tune without the theatrics that mar some of his other ballads. And "Centipede" is just a mindblowing, disturbing-in-its-sexiness/sexy-in-its-disturbedness beast of a tune. The off-kilter beat, the wtf lyrics, Rebbie's histrionic performance, they all meld together to push this one to the next level. Everyone should get a hold of the 12" extended version of "Centipede", by the way, it works even better than the shorter version.

At a point there I just started clutching at straws. The Jackson fam are so great that lol there could be a totally different 10 from them.

I think "Miss You Much" might have missed the poll at this point. "Rock With You" is a lock.

"Can You Feel It" hasn't appeared yet, that one must be in the top 10.

I'm hoping "Together Again" will place (it was the top Janet tune in my ballot), but I kinda fear it's too positive a song for ILM to love it.

Er, what? Is this a joke? "Can You Feel It" is like the best-known The Jacksons tune there is (alongside "Blame It on the Boogie") + the classic video will probably help it get high points + Madonna stole the bassline for "Material Girl" + The Tamperer sampled it for "Feel It".

it looks like it did WAY better on european charts than in the u.s., though, so that's probably where our disconnect is stemming from. still don't think it'll place.

Okay... But "Can You Feel It" really played a lot on MTV. My family didn't get MTV until 1990, and I still saw it there several times.
