Smalling and Jones aren't really right backs tbf (apart from in the way that every Utd player is in a spiritual sense)

lol love the concept, even though i may have invented it

huh? fraizer campbell?

funnily enough quite a lot of the google results for "team of right-backs" are from Spurs forums. There are a few ilx ones in there as well though (including a bemused NBS asking where the where the whole thing came from)

"He's played only a handful of games," Pearce said of Oxlade-Chamberlain.

"Alex is playing extremely well for the under-21s and if we elevated him into the senior squad and he played for 10 minutes then I can't see what the footballing education would be."

James Mitchell, Thursday, 23 February 2012 12:31 (2 years ago) Permalink

of course logically most teams have a higher number of potential right-backs than any other position. Simply because there are more right footed players and with full-back seen as a lower risk position than centre-back you're more likely to get non-specialist players filling in there in the case of injury

Number None, Thursday, 23 February 2012 12:33 (2 years ago) Permalink

this is an outrage

kid steel (cajunsunday), Thursday, 23 February 2012 12:33 (2 years ago) Permalink

Pearce out.

kid steel (cajunsunday), Thursday, 23 February 2012 12:35 (2 years ago) Permalink

nn otm, of course, rooney should absolutely be selected at a less risky position befitting his power and stamina as opposed to clogging this once-great nation's entire attack

beware of greek bearer bonds (darraghmac), Thursday, 23 February 2012 12:39 (2 years ago) Permalink

Hadn't even noticed Rooney in there. So much for his exile 'til June.

if Bruce takes the Wolves job at this point he is beneath dignity

FPocalypto! (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 23 February 2012 13:02 (2 years ago) Permalink

We're all going to seem so foolish now when Capello takes the job

Fraizer Campbell = 4 league appearances in 2 seasons

I had totally forgotten Fraizer Campbell even existed and he actually played for us for a bit. Clearly he's cashing in on a bet that he made with Psycho three years ago.

No Defoe either. He may not be getting in the team but he's certainly scoring when he gets on the pitch. Thank fuck there's no Carroll at least.

Homosexual Satan Wasp (Matt DC), Thursday, 23 February 2012 14:03 (2 years ago) Permalink

It feels a little bit wrong that I've heard of all the goalkeepers.

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 23 February 2012 14:13 (2 years ago) Permalink

Pearce during the presser "potential is one thing, delivery is a different module".
He's clearly a lurker. Hi Stuart!

The opportunity for Manchester City's supporters was too good to pass up. Their team were on their way to a 4-0 win against Porto and the opposition had a striker going by the name of Hulk who was showing signs of frustration. "You're not incredible," the home fans sang.

Hulk, real name Givanildo Vieira de Souza, certainly did not look like he had superhuman powers as Sergio Agüero inspired City to a 4-0 victory to send them into the next round of the Europa League with an aggregate 6-1 victory.

Porto, however, have not seen the funny side. The Portuguese club are now preparing an official complaint in which they will ask Uefa to open disciplinary charges against the Premier League leaders – and they are denying it has anything to do with an apparent humour bypass.

Rui Cerqueira, the club's spokesman, said the matter would be reported on the grounds that City's supporters had acted in an improper way. Hulk had also been targeted with chants of "cheat" because of the Brazilian's tendency to look for free-kicks and Porto will claim he was the victim of unsporting behaviour that warrants an official investigation.

Number None, Thursday, 23 February 2012 14:41 (2 years ago) Permalink

LOL @ Porto having the audacity to accuse any other team of unsporting behaviour!

Charles Kennedy Jumped Up, He Called 'Oh No'. (Tom D.), Thursday, 23 February 2012 14:58 (2 years ago) Permalink

Looks like retaliation for City reporting them for racist monkey-noise chanting. It's kind of staggering that they a) would rather deny it took place than try to do anything about it, b) would come up with such a lame 'explanation' (it was City fans shouting 'Kun Kun Kun' at a player who wasn't playing at the time), and c) think that an amusing song about the Incredible Hulk somehow makes it evens.

Striking Minors (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Thursday, 23 February 2012 17:20 (2 years ago) Permalink

it's p much a nose-thumbing at a genuine complaint re: racism and it'd be nice to see them sanctioned for it imo

Former Rangers boss Walter Smith has rejected a move back into football management with Wolves.
Smith joins a growing list of people to have rebuffed the Midlands club, who have been without a manager since they sacked Mick McCarthy on 13 February.

mick mccarthy emerging as the best candidate for the job imo.

bring back mccarthy jokes have been running all week on the express and star forums except some of them don't appear to be jokes, rmde

i think in all honesty morgan probably wanted to appoint Bruce at the weekend, and then he realised that lynch mobs wd be formed if he did, and he's too fucking cheap to offer anybody a viable contract bearing in mind the difficulty of keeping us up, and fuck only knows what else, utter utter fucking shambles everybody out imo
