I got 2 for the Radioactivity show, not sure how that happened.

So apparently the ShowClix CEO posted a letter of apology about yesterday here. As everyone is reading it, it's also down as well. There's just a 404 note and this image and caption instead:

We looked, but couldn't find the page or file you requested on our servers. Our engineers are rather bright people, too, so we're not really sure how this could've happened. Sorry about that! Let us know if you continue to find yourself here.

It's here, too

it's a fair mea culpa but a little hollow

Wow, that's v likely the most sincere/informative/responsibility-taking apology letter I've ever read from a company tbh

wait a second..

"Increase your odds of seeing Kraftwerk at MoMA. Create an animated GIF from one of these sites."

the link points to a google search for "animated gif online". does that mean i have to use a crappy automatic gif maker? can't i just use photoshop?

1986 Olive Garden (Z S), Monday, 12 March 2012 21:03 (2 years ago) Permalink

aw man, and it doesn't even matter if the animation is good or not.the quality of the gif doesn't matter.

The official rules say "GIFs will not be judged", and then go on to talk about a random drawing for the winners. All that submitting a gif gets you is 2 chances to win instead of 1, essentially.
So you could submit a flashing text gif that says "KRAFTWERK" and it counts as much as a 400-frame epic journey through the pulsating electronic veins of Ralf & Florian, basically.

1986 Olive Garden (Z S), Monday, 12 March 2012 21:15 (2 years ago) Permalink

oh well, made this anyway

Weird, I guess the gallery of images is at the bottom of the link above (http://www.vwgifaway.com/). One of mine just showed up there (a really crappy text one I barfed out in a few minutes). But so far it's the only one that's related to Kraftwerk whatsoever?

Just found a copy of "Radio-Activity" at a horrible record store in Philly. Later, while giving it a closer look I discovered it contains the elusive yellow and pink stickers; 16 of them fully intact. Collectible?

kwhitehead, Wednesday, 21 March 2012 17:41 (2 years ago) Permalink

What?? Which record store? How much?

Mr.(or Mrs.)Repo, again I ask, collectible?

kwhitehead, Wednesday, 21 March 2012 19:42 (2 years ago) Permalink

Aw, thats like 10 blocks from me. I saw an in-store there a month ago but I've never actually shopped there :-( it looked cute!

Thanks Milton. I was just happy to get a nice vinyl copy, this is a nice bonus.

My 21 month old daughter asked for Robots tonight. Last weekend we listened to Man Machine a few times but I didn't think she remembered. As soon as I put it on tonight she started dancing. This made me extremely happy.

Seriously, same here. I don't even want many things from life, I really don't. I just want to see kraftwerk. Or even just ONE FUCKING guy from kraftwerk. I don't know why this is so difficult to accomplish.

1986 Olive Garden (Z S), Saturday, 24 March 2012 20:13 (2 years ago) Permalink

Well, I say congrats!

Mark G, Saturday, 24 March 2012 20:17 (2 years ago) Permalink

Sorry, I should have said that too! That's awesome you get to go, and especially to that particular show!

1986 Olive Garden (Z S), Saturday, 24 March 2012 20:18 (2 years ago) Permalink

Ha, thanks! Really didn't expect to win. I'm actually a little worried that the tickets will be revoked because they said they might ask me to sign a release for the .gif, which I don't really have any right to do since I made it with the NYPL Stereogranimator thing with NYPL archive images. I should have thought about for 2 seconds before idly entering the contest, but since they encouraged using generator sites, and most of the images they displayed were obviously in violation of copyright, it didn't occur to me. So we'll see.

C0L1N B..., Saturday, 24 March 2012 20:40 (2 years ago) Permalink

just sign it and smile

It appears, from my ticket confirmation I rec'd yesterday
that there's be some nice merch on sale @ these shows.
Must remember to bring some extra $.
