I think that first video broke my brain.

I've watched it twice now and have decided I really really like it.

I mean, Japanese girls, operatic stuff, and guitar shred? Obviously I'm sold on the song. The video is pretty nuts, though.

Well yeah, I was considering using the "masterpiece alert" title.
Charming thing is he's very enthusiastic about this stuff. From his website:
"...this song is like the "Bohemian Rhapsody" of idol/girl group music. It has all the elements you would never expect in the genre-aside from the 5 girl singers, there is a 100 person choir, odd-time signatures, high speed tempo changes, unusual key modulations, and my guitar over the top of all of it. Actually, if you could imagine a 2 hour long Japan-themed Broadway show fast forwarded and squeezed into 5 and a half minutes, that might describe the song. No question this is my favorite collaboration since I moved to Japan."

And of course these girls are no strangers to unexpecting and great songs - they are, after all, the group who released, on labour day last year, a socialist protest song reborn as j-pop idol greatness. Mentiond this in the 2011 tracks thread. Actually co-composed by Ian Parton, but the lyrics seal the deal: http://youtu.be/Krj3dwKEaSk
