hey stet thank you!

is there a reason title changes dont carry over to bookmarks though?

⚓ (gr8080), Thursday, 1 March 2012 23:10 (twelve years ago) link

Yeah, the bookmark title is just a copy of the thread name, not linked. It makes things faster, but means it doesn't keep up with title changes

http://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2012/03/in-praise-of-yelp-the-newest-billion-dollar-web-company/253911/

seems pretty off-base (any sensible piece on yelp would be more savage to yelpers) but this bit is on:

But that engenders, as a result, a related sentiment: indignation. It's not just that we can create things on the Internet; it's that we expect to be included in their creation. And so we are miffed when things are done without our feedback. "'Why wasn't I consulted,'" Ford wrote, "is the fundamental question of the Web."

four weeks pass...

This place worst restaurant i have ever been too... i wanted to eat certain things they didn't have it.. they had a few things then they didn't have a few things in the menu..i have never heard of that before.. i went with my husband and i ate the mussell almarfi and it was okay not great musells weren't in their shells which ive never seen before and spicy too spicy for my taste... my husband had the lasagna and they even got that wrong how can you get lasagna wrong and the chef supposedly was a chef in italy or cooked out there for 12yrs.. the lasagna was overcooked you can tap it and it was hard as a rock it came with carrots and brocolli i mean thats not italian cuisine..no wonder there was noone there as soon as we got there.. and for dessert the cake was a chocolate cake with some sort of mouse the cake was old because it wasn't moist and spongy like its suppose to be.. I'm never going back to this restuarant again...People stay away from this place food is bad!!!!

tbf that sounds pretty confusing. plus the percussive lasagna.

and for dessert the cake was a chocolate cake with some sort of mouse

That reads like it was written by a Facebook friend of mine (we went to high school together).

Here are a few of her recent posts:

Teacher told a funny story.
he said he went to a daycare and ask do you guys have pets here. The reply was No. so they took him on a tour. He sees a ginny pig in one room. then he sees a turtle in the next room. then in the next room he sees a parot. He says Im sorry but I thought you said you had no pets here. they then replied.....wait for it....oh their not pets their MASCOTS! Lol!

here is a debating question.....Is Poison Ivy, if someone caught it. Is it contagious? If that person is treated for it, can you catch it too?

What crazy person passes on crawfish!

OK, sorry, one more:

I have a complaint. I et to your theatre to see the movie wanderlust. on your website you advertised a diffrent movie. I googgled it and the other movie is called wanderlust and it came out in 2012 and stars diffrent actors. isnt that false advertising. I feel we should get a refund. That not the movie we wanted to see. it turned out to be with Jennifer aniston and paul rudd.

I have no idea.

Cuba Pudding, Jr. (jaymc), Sunday, 1 April 2012 15:17 (twelve years ago) link

i have no idea what that means but if i had seen wanderlust starring jennifer aniston and paul rudd in the movie theater i'd be really upset too and want to complain

Mordy, Sunday, 1 April 2012 15:25 (twelve years ago) link

he probably should have goggled it first

And before anyone hauls off and starts calling me a racist, let me take a moment to assure you that you are absolutely right--but I am equally racist toward all races, which thus loops me right back around to totally non-racist.

imdb says there are a few different movies called wanderlust, and the ones NOT starring aniston/rudd all came out before 2012. i have no idea which trailer that poster saw on the website.

two weeks pass...

When my friend and I arrived the place was packed! There was a DJ playing electro and old school hip hop, which is an interesting mix but it worked well. We were greeted by a lovely French hostess that actually doubled as our waitress! LOL. She was charming. Loved the accent! We had to wait about 20 minutes for a table, so she seated us at the bar. There was a good selection of French beers (by the bottle). My friend had a Mojito and I had the "Colombo" (French beer). The bartender was really cool and also had a French accent and a funky Haircut. We nicknamed her Rihanna. I may be a sucker for accents but I really thought this added to the authenticity of the restaurant. After a couple of "high fives" with the bartender we were seated. My friend ordered the steak Tartar (which he said was absolutely delicious) and I had the short braised ribs with Parmesan risotto. The Ribs were juicy and flavorful and the risotto was creamy and wonderful. Service was excellent. We never once felt neglected. I have seen some other negative reviews about the service in this place and I can only think: A) those customers dealt with another waiting staff or B) they are just negative "douches" that can never be satisfied. My guess is that it's option b.. when we left we were Happy, full and ready to return..

I knew I would like this place when I went to their website, and cute, catchy music was playing in the background.

Happy, The Ribs

Acute puppy syndrome (admrl), Sunday, 22 April 2012 06:19 (twelve years ago) link

the restaurant i'm working at has received its first 1 star review!

So I suppose there are positive and negative aspects to having a refined palate. On the one hand, you can truly appreciate an amazing gastronomic experience created by a true artist; on the other, what might simply be a mediocre meal for some becomes a horribly traumatic experience, leaving your taste buds, perhaps even your entire body, crying out in agony and distress.

it's funny that she's makes a big deal about how offensive the pasta was because it's not even made in-house, but sourced from a specialty vendor on federal hill, the neighborhood she name-checks for great pasta

I just had a Yelp review removed for violating terms of service. It's a bit suspect as it's a service (not restaurant) who has nearly all 5-star reviews except for one three-star. My review was based on the fact that I tried to contact them several times to get a quote and didn't hear back in two weeks. Yelp said my review 'lacks a firsthand consumer experience'. Well yes, because they failed to let me establish one! The 3-star review is a similar one that said they kept being closed when they went there so had to go elsewhere. I don't care in the slightest about my non-review being removed but I wonder if this store is one of their paid ad accounts.
