- aimless claims that if we weren't farming them for food, species of domesticated livestock would disappear (so it is implicit that we're doing them a favour)- he then says that if we didn't have those livestock, we'd just make more humans to fill up that land, so wild species wouldn't benefit anyway (so it is implicit that we might as well just keep farming livestock for food, since other animals wouldn't be better off)- he also claims that the only way to know a cow as an individual is to milk it ("There's nothing like having to milk a herd of cows by hand to let you know they are individuals and to begin to treat them in that way"), so because vegans don't eat dairy and therefore would never milk a cow, they have no way to understand cows as individuals (this clearly disregards the fact that many vegans were not always so, and that some vegans grew up on farms). he follows that up with a guess that somewhat contradicts this, saying that he thinks 98% of vegans have no firsthand experience of farm animals (again, implicit is the fact that only seeing second-hand the abuse of farm animals is somehow not really worth talking about)- he then takes this responding quote from nickb: "I'm not sure of the relevance of this, but it's a pretty obvious logical step to take when you see a piece of meat to assume that an animal has been killed" and somehow extrapolates from it that most vegans think farm workers are monsters, and begins to mount a defense of all farm workers- he then makes a long theoretical post that in sum posits vegans (group a) as judgmental and misinformed, and farmworkers (group b) as victims of this. apparently, unless you personally have witnessed abuse of farm animals or met a farm-factory worker, it's not possible for you to have an informed opinion on the care of farm animals.
- everyone tells him he is not-otm, and multiple people try to point out that a. no one said all farm workers are monsters and b. for most vegans it's irrelevant how good the care is of the animals if they're being treated as possessions and slaughtered.
- of note: most of the people telling aimless he is not-otm are not even vegan.

Dr Morbius,
What do you object to in the comedy poll exactly? Just people's ballot choices? My own list was surprisingly Whitebread American, but since my template for comedy was forged by early degraded clamshell VHS tapes from a suburban library, I guess it's kind of bound to be a little blinkered and WASPy. I purposefully didn't want to practice any tokenism or curatoring, so I read through the list and winnowed out the ~ 100ish movies that had given me the most pleasure and humor (and most of these, unsurpisingly, fit an Aristotilian comedic form), and further winnowed, and ended up with 60ish movies that had brought me the most delght. There wasn't any higher level of thought – comedy's essentially a sensory experience for me – and I ranked movies pretty arbitrarily as 'great' 'good' 'worthy' and 'important and amusing but not as good as the rest.' I'm curious to know why you object to the poll so far: it seems okay(ish), if a little perplexing.
