They were pretty awesome when I saw them a few years back, too. Great light show, great sound. Want to say I saw Massive Attack the same year at the same venue, and the shows were oddly analogous in terms of quality and surprise entertainment value.

New song up on youtube under the klingklang account. Sounds an awful lot like the last album. Maybe there will be another night at nyc, to debut the new album? *jozz in my pants*

A friend told me he read tweets suggesting they'd do a similar run at Tate Modern/London. Does anyone know more?

Lots of people are requesting it. The source of the rumours seems to be this tweet by these guys, who I've never heard of.
It's some serious getting-hopes-up stuff though.

think I'm gonna take a shot at Man-Machine and maybe Computer World (on the theory that Trans-Europe Express will be the most popular ticket)
― dmr, Thursday, 16 February 2012 15:36 (1 year ago) Permalink
^^^man machine is their best anyway.

but i'll be out of town for that one :-/

Really re: TEE being most popular? It seems like it'd be CW and Man Machine by a long shot, followed by TEE and Autobahn, and then Radioactivity, Techno Pop, The Mix, and TDF being way behind
― I have one thing to say: "Roxanne Shanté" (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 16 February 2012 15:48 (1 year ago) Permalink
TEE is the first one I bought bc of its heavy status w critics. but I'm not sure if that proves much of anything.
holding out for ralf & florian night btw.
― (⊙_⊙?) (Alan N), Thursday, 16 February 2012 15:56 (1 year ago) Permalink
I'd see 3-way tie between CW, M-M and TEE, then the rest. I would kill to attend ANY of these shows btw

Guy from KW mailing list. There were noises about the Tate back at the time of the Munich Lenbachhaus Kunstbau show/concert at Alten Kongresshalle.

yeah I agree
Really re: TEE being most popular?
I have no idea, just thinking that's their most widely known track because of "Planet Rock" (see post above about black, white, young, old, hip-hop, techno)
― dmr, Thursday, 16 February 2012 16:21 (1 year ago) Permalink
i really want to get man-machine but think it will be the most popular/quickest to sell out. it's on my birthday!!! i think techno pop will be my second choice.
― bene_gesserit, Thursday, 16 February 2012 16:38 (1 year ago) Permalink
also i dearly wish they were doing ralf und florian, because it's my favorite.
― bene_gesserit, Thursday, 16 February 2012 16:39 (1 year ago) Permalink
man, i'm so jealous of the techno pop lovers. try as i might i just can't get into it as heavily as the others

Would love to see them at Tate Modern or similar in London. I saw them at Tribal Gathering '97. I was in the 'Detroit' tent most of the day but they shut that down for an hour or so because none of the acts (Terrence Parker, Carl Craig, Kevin Saunderson etc.) would play during Kraftwerk. They were late coming on and then.. BOOM!
― mmmm, Thursday, 16 February 2012 17:13 (1 year ago) Permalink
xpost I dunno, I can 'get behind' people thinking "we wait all that time, and it's pretty much what we'd expect", but apart from that I can't detect a massive drop in quality.
The kids were doing the 'B-boom-TCK!' after I'd had a KWork splurge in the car, a few years ago.
― Mark G, Friday, 17 February 2012 09:42 (1 year ago) Permalink
Again - as I said upthread - I cannot imagine this would be the only performance of these shows - it does not seem to make any kind of business sense to rehearse and do the programming for all these songs for just a one-off in a smallish venue.
― licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Friday, 17 February 2012 10:45 (1 year ago) Permalink
the entirety of their "business sense" over the last 30 years has been "it interested Ralf at the time" though
― Θ ̨Θƪ (sic), Friday, 17 February 2012 12:33 (1 year ago) Permalink
hmmm, see, no disrespect to Ralf (and Florian) but I have the feeling that most of their activity in the last 10 years has been somewhat financially driven (which doesn't take anything away to how awesome it's all been)
― licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Friday, 17 February 2012 12:37 (1 year ago) Permalink
I remember someone once saying that the accent they use on "Autobahn" is 'strong dusseldorf' which is their version of 'brummie'
Which means, to their home nation,
sounds like

― Lawanda Pageboy (Capitaine Jay Vee), Sunday, 19 February 2012 13:04 (1 year ago) Permalink
None of the albums are that long, they can't possibly be taking stuff out.
― Homosexual Satan Wasp (Matt DC), Sunday, 19 February 2012 13:19 (1 year ago) Permalink
I'd be more inclined to believe the MoMA website.
Each evening consists of a live performance and 3-D visualization of one of Kraftwerk's studio albums—Autobahn (1974), Radio-Activity (1975), Trans-Europe Express (1977), The Man-Machine (1978), Computer World (1981), Techno Pop (1986), The Mix (1991), and Tour de France (2003)—in the order of their release. Kraftwerk will follow each evening’s album performance with additional compositions from their catalog, all adapted specifically for this exhibition.

Yes, that was Billie Ray Martin, who is from Hamburg. She said that Ralf's strong accent makes the song slightly comical to many Germans.
