Thraed of Skrillex

I read a story once about Russell Simmons meeting some promising young ingenue in his office. He closed the door and laid out a small pack of cards on the table. On each card was a silhouette. Simmons asked the up-and-comer who each silhouette was, and for each card it was obvious: Kid n Play. Public Enemy. Biggie. Etc. Simmons literally had the theory that people have to recognize you from your silhouette or you'll never be a superstar.

How has Skrillex got so massive so quickly? I mean, do people usually win Grammies after a handful of singles?

Matt DC, Thursday, 16 February 2012 12:16 (2 years ago) Permalink

I mean there's popular-among-American-fratboys massive and Grammies massive and this seems a pretty rapid ascendancy to the latter.

I dunno, but safesearch:moderate GIS for skrillex audience will get you a drawing of Skrillex boning a My Little Pony. This much is true.

Safesearch off GIS shows that, and the pic before it is some guy sodomising Skrillex while holding a mobile phone and saying "this is really gay, I'd better tweet about it"

Weird, I pretty much typed this up but with Groening talking about cartooning and how to make recognizable characters, which he says exactly that, but then decided maybe it wasn't a close enough example.

C'mon Tiesto became famous in the US like a decade after Europe. Even Latinamerica got Tiesto before the states.

...but tiesto is european in the first place, it's not uncommon for the us to get latepassed on anything that's not initially out of the us. he was still ridic big here regardless of where he was big first

why him? there's thousands of dubstep artists right now that sound pretty much the same. It's hard to differentiate them by sound so I'm thinking this guy is branding himself better than the others. The look and personality you portray are more important than music itself. He's a pop icon now, no? Anyone following the popscene more than 10 minutes can tell it's more about style than content.

this is from a while back and has been addressed, but much as i respect Moka, i don't like this sort of dismissal of pop. it seems way too broad and presumptive to mean anything. even when i don't like popular music, i figure that there's some musical reason for its popularity. image and moment and all those other factors have a huge impact, obviously, but skrillex sounds pretty distinctive to me, both in the melodies and the breakdowns. i can see why people would like his music in particular and not just "that sound". 3 grammys was ridic tho.

Skrillex Uses Satanic and Homosexual Influence to Win Grammys

From http://christwire.org/2012/02/skrillex-uses-satanic-and-homosexual-influence-to-win-grammys/

Skrillex, a Gothic icon and Lesbian fashionista whose name is Latin for “Homosexual Satan Wasp”, is the biggest act in Dubstep today — a music genre founded on consuming massive amounts of drugs and having raucous pre-marital sex with numerous partners — and his winnings at the 2012 Grammys prove that his satanic presence will be felt for years to come. As long as Skrillex wins Grammys and is accepted by mainstream media, he will claim souls for Satan and molest our children through his perverse philosophy of futuristic devil machine music.

Skrillex is the inventor of “dubstep” whose sole purpose is to provide a “drop” — common youth terminology for procuring and snorting drugs. In addition, the rhythm patterns he employs in his “music” are known to cause seizures to certain people, which provides ample opportunity for other concert-goers to rape said afflicted person(s).

Skrillex, a known emosexual, was born Sonny Moore. He rose to fame with the satanic Rock ‘n roll band “From First To Last” (a band name that celebrates falling from God’s grace) and soon parlayed that success into something much more blasphemous; something that incorporates elements of Warhol-era rampant homosexuality and perversion, electronic “music” and lesbian-influenced haircuts. It is rumored that 1 in 3 women are raped at a Skrillex concert and forced to abort their children soon after.

Over 100% of homosexual gays listen to, or have listened to Skrillex in their life — mostly while participating in door-to-door recruitment for sex orgies or attempting to molest children in one of the patented “Rape Vans” used by the gay homo community.

In addition, Skrillex has launched a grotesque fashion trend, where upon weak-minded woman destroy their hallowed vessels of child birthing by SHAVING the side of their head — the same thing responsible for the downfall of Samson is being ENCOURAGED by this gnome-ish pervert. Skrillex will stop at nothing to get every teen in America hooked on dubstep and “ecstasy” (a potent street drug responsible for terrorism).

(Skrillex, shown here drinking “ecstasy”, in particular the potent “X3″ version)

As a proud parent of four, healthy, able-bodied children, I urge all fellow parents to think thrice before allowing their own children to attend a dubstep show. These shows are full of unemployed “Occupiers” who seek to rape and maim your children and family life. Skrillex fans are MORE likely to rob a gas station and set a retirement home on fire than 1000% of Christians.

Please join with me in boycotting dubstep and this evil, satanic harbinger of deceit.

carl agatha, Friday, 17 February 2012 12:35 (2 years ago) Permalink

It's parody, but 'Homosexual Satan Wasp' is an A+++ screen name.
