max, you are good people, i generally like having you around, and i understand its fun to be part of a pwn-athon. But you were really playing zing Mad Libs by the end of this one. there's not some magical combination of "sandwich" and "drown" that you just haven't stumbled across.

hey whiney can i offer you a butthurt sandwich? i'll hold the cheese (-30cals)

SANDWICH -- A Sandwich man drowned in a Cape Cod pond Monday, apparently trying to retrieve a fishing lure, police said. John P. Coughlin, 35, was pronounced dead at Falmouth Hospital.

passantino made a 10/10 classic drowning joke in that thread and every other drowning joke after that was a footlong w/ extra weak sauce

I think "30 calories less if you hold the cheese" is the new meme over there, I was trying to do a couple of transitional "drowning plus holdin cheese" gags to usher in the next era.

new 77 assignment: anytime anyone mentions food involving cheese anywhere, chime in that it sounds good but it is "30 calories less if you hold the cheese"

Well, I don't mind your zings until you start running the same ones into the ground. Yes, that's my own butthurtnedness and I have to deal with it. But you can't blame me for not 100% repping for a guy who's posting style I barely know beyond "likes to zing me repetitively"

if we're gonna lawyer up the thread then let's get real -- this thread should be for multiple instances of the same/very similar jokes on separate occasions, not someone working variations on a theme on a particular thread one day.

i feel forks on this one - i mean the drowning meme has more than run its course now so ppl should be admonished for using it from now on, but reviving the OG thread w/ drowning lols seems aight to me

you down with challo.p.p.? (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 14 January 2009 05:42 (fifteen years ago) link

imo making rules about zings takes all the life out of zings -- zings are often most effective when they come as a surprise so telling ppl when & where they can post them makes no sense & goes too far in used to max & me and whoever else just playing off a played out zing -- obv a solid zing like dom's 1st one will often inspire echoes of that zing for awhile on the same thread

xhuxk d (deej), Wednesday, 14 January 2009 05:48 (fifteen years ago) link

yeah ppl were really trying to propose serious rules about the serious art of zinging deej

anyway the recurring zing is like the funniest thing ever in my book, i say keep on keeping on

s1ocki, Wednesday, 14 January 2009 05:58 (fifteen years ago) link

they only stay funny as long as they continue to get a rise out of people though

s1ocki, Wednesday, 14 January 2009 05:58 (fifteen years ago) link

i mean the drowning thing especially is so nonsensical and so obviously based on just poor wording of a thread title it's only funny so far as whiney takes the bait

s1ocki, Wednesday, 14 January 2009 05:59 (fifteen years ago) link

i also think its ... something ... that dom is so good at writing zings about drowning

77 heres a good recent example how to carry the weight (no passantino) of a recurring zing from our friends across the pond:

No, it's not newsworthy at all, except to HYS types who sit in front of their PC/TV/radio waiting to be offended or self-righteous bores.

Eventually, of course, no one will be allowed to say anything, privately or publicly, that is likely to offend anyone else. If we go down that road we might as well vote in the Nazis now and have done with it.

What people say in private is their own business and nobody else's.

No righteous outrage at the people who sold these things to the tabloids, either, I note.

What are the "issues at stake" here again? That the media value non-stories that sell papers over worthy issues that don't? That they're hypocritical? That most things that appear on the front of the Sun are less important than dozens of things going on around the world?

Is there a single person on this thread who doesn't know all that already and needs it all spelt out to them? Christ. This is sub-student level 'debate'.

Yes, reporting on the Royals' racist epithets is the rocky road to Nazism.

― Zelda Zonk, Wednesday, January 14, 2009 7:28 AM (34 minutes ago) Bookmark Suggest Ban Permalink

If we're going to object to racist remarks by publicly funded individuals we might as well vote in the Nazis now and have done with it. Find a flaw in that logic I dare you.
