where'd you meet?

it's weird. he found me on OKC over a year ago and we went on one date, and then, for various reasons i don't really want to recount here, we never saw each other again...until i ran into him two weeks ago out of the blue at an art opening, and we made plans to hang out. so this was technically our third date.

i think he's really wonderful and it's nice for a change to actually know for sure that the feeling is mutual.

also when we first got to the piano bar one of the older patrons hit his head on the actual bar and fell unconscious. they had to call in the paramedics.

i'm having a normal conversation w/ someone i know on grindr right now.

oh yes i just had a normal conversation on gaydar too.

about contemporary dance, no less.

i organised a class field trip w a guy on my course!

I had no normal conversations this weekend, cept I said hi to 2 of donna's friends at a showing of George Kuchar's The Devil's Cleavage tonight.

Ha! M4rci sent me a text to tell me she totally loves GK now.

last night the boy and i went out for a lavish dinner and we got seated next to a gay couple in their 50s, and we caught a few glances from them where it seemed like they were really happy to be sitting next to a younger gay couple? like when we left (before them) the waiter told us that we could take the rose on the table, so i did, and they flashed these huge grins at us. it was cute.

oh and the food was great

I was happy, since I spent the bartime w/ single ladies and someone played "Fuck You" on the jukebox

i was solo but i went to a queer experimental film screening that was pretty cool. the bus ride back was amazing, this big singalong (like, seriously almost half the bus) broke out - "rolling in the deep" followed by "gin and juice" followed by erykah's "on and on" (!). so LA was my valentine yesterday.

i also COMPLETELY UNINTENTIONALLY HONEST wore a red shirt yesterday

that. is. awesome.

I had a fairly exasperating workday and then crashed out at home by myself.

went out to dinner monday night - not intentionally for v day, just cause we hadn't in a while.

last night we just watched a movie and did some schoolwork, but oddly enough valentine's day seems so much less important in a relationship than it did when i wasn't in one.

shrug.

i accidentally had a kinda sweet v day lol. went to my first ever fashion show/ presentation, got to chat a bit with some folks i really admire (telf@r, f@tim@ @l q@diri!), then had dinner and chilled with l31f.

stevie, that haircut is really good, but kind of 4-5 seasons ago, imho. also, i dunno, maybe it's my DIY snobbery, but do you REALLY need to go to a barber to have the sides of your head shaved? that just strikes me as lazy.

morbz, as far as NYC trip, i'm taking two classes right now, doing some construction work, writing a bunch, and....in other words, no. i actually don't plan on coming east anytime soon, tbh.

ok... I'm looking at my lingering debt from last summer in Calif and thinking I might not go anywhere this year. (At least til the Democratic convention.)

Oh yeah, that place is good. Haven't been there for dinner in a long time, but they do an excellent brunch.

yeah it was cool! we kind of just skimmed this big list of restaurants listed on open table that had prix fixe menus for v day and was the one that best fit in terms of location, food, price, ability to get reservation etc

their brunch looked dope tho just looking at the regular menu tho

I've been thinking that recently how I love Andersonville, Uptown, Rogers Park, etc. but the commutes are too long to the Loop. Especially from A-ville. But I miss the neighborhoodiness and the "grit" I guess.

That remarkably horrible Shit Chicagoans Say video said something like "Go to Andersonville? What? And dodge all the lesbians??" which really annoyed me b/c: 1. That's not how fucking jokes work and 2. "Andersonville = lesbians" hasn't been true since before I moved here in 2004.
