Which video is racist? (Maybe that's been covered, but I think the last Florence video I watched was for Dog Days three years ago.)

I'm definitely not in synch with most of the top results here. I listened to that Destroyer album a dozen times. I dismissed it carefully and deliberately!

love it when people listen to an album that has 1,355 points, 36 votes, 12 first place votes for like five minutes and dismiss it offhandedly
i thought that was the point of this thread? it's kinda fun to listen to everything that you ignored all year in a rush and make snap judgements.

uh 2011 Albums Poll: Stats and Ballots Hoedown of Truth
heh I just found the Destroyer album in the middle of a four-foot tall pile of promo CDs I am slowly putting onto eBay
I *could* listen to it again I guess

geez n/a you're getting mighty defensive about the level of respect ppl are affording the ilm year end poll results!
― call all destroyer, Thursday, 2 February 2012 21:13 (twelve years ago) link
I don't know you can call Destroyer not relevant when it scoops up bits and pieces from pretty much every non-pop subgroup of indie music. So nothing sounds quite like it, but that's because no one is doing all that at once and making it sound cohesive. It's also a great antidote to the loudness war.
― skip, Thursday, 2 February 2012 21:13 (twelve years ago) link
Prediction: Destroyer won't place

Shit, Lex is my top neighbour, did not see that coming. I'd have to see his list, I'll be pleasantly surprised if he voted for Art Brut and Wild Beasts too. Realistically it's becuase he voted for Cher Lloyd, Nikkiya, PJ Harvey and Kate Bush too.
A bit gutted Raphael Saadiq didn't make it. It was my number one.
Thanks to you guys for putting this list together.
― Kitchen Person, Thursday, 2 February 2012 21:14 (twelve years ago) link
great live show on the kaputt tour too!
― ^◡^ (diamonddave85), Thursday, 2 February 2012 21:15 (twelve years ago) link
man i'm really out of touch these days. i've only listened to maybe 10 of these. and there were releases by longtime faves that i totally ignored.
Ford & Lopatin — Channel Pressure << this totally ruled my year tho.
cool poll, always love these, thanks j0rd for putting it together.

I only liked 'Savage Night At The Opera' off the Destroyer, but I did like it a lot, mainly 'cause it sounded like Broken Social Scene when they were great.

same. wolf & lamb vs soul clap, love love vs hate love, lloyd, meek mill
i wish i'd voted meek mill as my #1. oh well.

Destroyer was the #20 best reviewed on sites tracked by Metacritichttp://www.metacritic.com/feature/best-albums-of-2011
My #16, Wild Beasts, was also #16 on Metacritic. Surprised it was only #85 here.

pretty much agree with matt dc's assessment of 4, good album that's just way overrated around here and doesn't come close imo to b'day
― tebow gotti (k3vin k.), Thursday, 2 February 2012 21:45 (twelve years ago) link
except Matt then went on to say 4 was her best album so
― I spend a lot of time thinking about apricots (DJP), Thursday, 2 February 2012 21:46 (twelve years ago) link
I'm not sure I've listened to B'Day since 2006, but "Deja Vu" might be better than any track on 4.

I'm surprised that I like all of the top 8 albums. Haven't heard 9 and can't remember what I thought of 10.

Anyway, back to the most important thing. A ROCK ALBUM FINALLY WON OUR POLL! lol it rocks about as hard as a single gym sock in a dryer full of towels. But, technically, it's the work of a WHITE MALE WHO PLAYS MULTIPLE INSTRUMENTS PROFICIENTLY AND HAS A BEARD.

4 is great. So is B'Day. I still haven't decided which is better - they have totally different aesthetics and aims.
Great poll. Honestly, the most I can ask out of an ILM poll is that much of it be stuff I didn't know existed, and this succeeded.
