if he had placed corrupted a couple of places higher they would have won.

There were 13 voters who got their whole list into the top 125. At the other end, there were 8 (including me) who got less than half their list into the top 125. You can see all the voters ranked by their % in the top 125 here:

how do you think 2011 compared to last year quality wise?

Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats - Blood Lust (4)Devin Townsend Project - Deconstruction (150)Pantheïst - Pantheist (8)Subrosa - No Help for the Mighty Ones (10)Opeth - Heritage (23)Machine Head - Unto the Locust (117)Barn Owl - Lost in the Glare (50)Slough Feg - Made in Poland (71)Loon - S/T (63)The Flight of Sleipnir - Essence of Nine (82)
Was a bit unprepared for this poll, since it was my first year voting in the metal poll (and I haven't been a member for very long), but was exposed to quite a great deal of stuff in Outloud sessions which made voting a little easier!
I've heard a few more albums since my ballot that I'm really kicking myself that I didn't vote for, especially the Anima Morte, Cauldron and Falloch records, which would have been up there. Old Silver Key, Mastodon and Orchid would have went somewhere in the middle of my ballot.
For me, this poll was a case of getting involved on the Monday and having my ballot in my Friday, and as such (in hindsight) I don't think my ballot truly represents what it would have been if I'd had an extra couple of weeks to do some further digging. Nevertheless, it's been a good experience and I've discovered some great records, so I can't complain!

I still need to hear those wolvhammer and fucked up albums. Are they really good?
― Armand Schaubroeck Ratfucker, Monday, 23 January 2012 11:31 (twelve years ago) link
Yeah, Wolvhammer is really intense stuff but good. Fucked Up is also high-intensity in a hardcore stylee, I think a lot would depend on how you feel about the vocals, they're pretty gruff and unrelenting. Try before you buy maybe!

i clicked this thinking it was an all-time metal album poll and was REALLY CONFUSED. (has there been an all-time metal album poll?)

I'm kinda trippin on you guys and all the Uncle Acid love... A friend of mine tried to turn me on ti, and the phychodelic, stoner rock hippy jam band vibe of it didn't grap me at all.. Maybe I didn't hear enough of it, but it was pretty weak imo..

I was looking at previous poll results, and there's really an unending supply of stuff I haven't heard, heh. You know what would be cool, is an ongoing master list of albums from all the metal polls. Ranking by just points might be a bit off as different numbers of people voted various years. Maybe percentage of total points?

I will! it's funny, at first I just noticed him at parent meetings (ie "hmmm that longhair over there appears to be quite the hesher, must be in a band") and then a vinyl copy of 17th Street showed up at the school auction and I was like AHA
his kid and my kid are friends, which is cute
