i need to find new mp3 blogs that are well-curated. most of my new music sources are dried up.

I'm gonna put my best-of-2011 playlist up on Spotify this weekend. Although it looks like Spotify is missing 11 of the 88 tracks. 12 if you count the "Edge of Glory" radio edit (they have the album version).

i'm not sure i find out about a lot actively so much as stumble on it? i still have an emusic account so that's my "try something new" allotment for the month, also keeps insane downloading under control.
really i am not an obsessive keeper-upper with stuff. i should probably read a magazine or something.

i was thinking of going to see YOB/Anatomy of Habit at the EB on Wednesday 1/25. should be a good show, but is on a weeknight :-/

also like i went to that metal ensemble thing at the MCA and saw the awesome harmonium player dude there and then looked him up

I've liked this guy lately, he's mostly into Michigan stuff but also branches out. A lot of hardcore, screamy sludgy crusty to whiny and emo. I've found some good tracks there.

I would like to get back into the habit of exploring music that is not primarily new and buzzed-about stuff, but there is so much of that stuff that I am rarely left wanting. Sometimes I just think, like, what if I am a huge fan of (say) Rickie Lee Jones, and I just don't know it yet?

Yeah, there's a century of music that just happens not to have paid publicity at the momen, ando gets drowned out by the rest.
