Azaelia's great, suck a dick if you disagree. she totally belongs in here. comparing her to LMFAO is hella tone deaf.

I will cop to needing a late pass for Action Bronson and deej, you're right that this is where we intersect. I found him only a few days ago when dallas penn was pushing him hard to me. Pretty dope. It's totally tony starks derivative but ghost is getting older and sounding a little different these days and young dude has a full head of steam. i gotta spend more time with this cat.

if you guys all hate the thread title so much, make a new thread and take the rap discussion there. this is a silly argument.

i love how i'm like the equivalent of the new york times writing an article about grunge

i feel like 'youtube' is an important factor in the regional thug mythos personally

while this may be true, it's kind of disappointing that a guy with very deep grounding in rap can't hear that the rhythm of "rolling regional thug thread" is A+ good and "rolling regional thug youtube thread" is clunky as fukk

action bronson sounding like ghostface is a big problem only if he uses ghostface like or generic boom bap beats, which is def no an issue w/ the track i just posted.

i don't agree that azealia banks is closer to rap than to lmfao -- they are both doing dance music w/ corny party rapping, one is trendy, the other is popular, but they're much closer than azelia and trina or we/

oh fine change it, but you're all a bunch of whiney babies

Regional Thug (D-40), Thursday, 5 January 2012 17:58 (2 years ago) Permalink

i'm pretty sure that when it's 99% vs 1% in any sort of debate, it's the dude in the 1% that's the whiny baby

J0rdan S., Thursday, 5 January 2012 17:59 (2 years ago) Permalink

y'all r really arguing about the "rhythm" of thread titles now?

The Brainwasher, Thursday, 5 January 2012 18:00 (2 years ago) Permalink

genuinely surprised you think azealia's skills don't go further than party or novelty status

then again she's no tyga

lol @ you trying to co-opt 99% when its like 6 dudes dicking around in this thread

Regional Thug (D-40), Thursday, 5 January 2012 18:01 (2 years ago) Permalink

incessant internal bitching that drives away all but 6-8 posters is pretty much the goon legacy...

J0rdan S., Thursday, 5 January 2012 18:01 (2 years ago) Permalink

i wasn't drawing a comparison b/w occupy wall st, you retard -- i'm saying that you're being outnumbered in this argument 99-1 (numbers approximate)

J0rdan S., Thursday, 5 January 2012 18:02 (2 years ago) Permalink

you guys spent about 30 posts w/ 'incessant internal bitching' because the thread title had the word 'youtube' in it.

Regional Thug (D-40), Thursday, 5 January 2012 18:02 (2 years ago) Permalink

nice job making the thread a total pain to read through yet again, though

Regional Thug (D-40), Thursday, 5 January 2012 18:03 (2 years ago) Permalink

thread fixed.

walking liquidity crisis (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 5 January 2012 18:03 (2 years ago) Permalink

azaelia can fukken rap is the difference! She's got tight flow and her lyrics are quick footed.

J0rdan S., Thursday, 5 January 2012 18:06 (2 years ago) Permalink

"I was like, this is not what I worked so hard my entire life to do-- to be rejected by some English guy in West Bumblefrickin’ nowhere London, telling me I’m amateur or something like that. So I just said, 'Screw you!'"

reading this in a whiney voice

walking liquidity crisis (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 5 January 2012 18:07 (2 years ago) Permalink

what, you think they're slow footed?

walking liquidity crisis (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 5 January 2012 18:07 (2 years ago) Permalink

she's a good rapper, i don't see the need for her to be discussed in the goon thread. even tho i think comparing her to lmfao is pretty dumb, i more or less side w/ deej on this one.

J0rdan S., Thursday, 5 January 2012 18:07 (2 years ago) Permalink

if she ever has a song as good as 'party rock anthem' i'll bring the comparison up again otherwise otm

Regional Thug (D-40), Thursday, 5 January 2012 18:08 (2 years ago) Permalink

dance rap like that has never really been the jurisdiction of this thread -- we post about na'tee in here, but not minaj and kid sister. banks is as good as any of them (imo) but she's much closer aesthetically to the latter two

J0rdan S., Thursday, 5 January 2012 18:09 (2 years ago) Permalink

ok well then dont discuss it. you can do that and not be a dick.

i really like action bronson. it does get p weird at times though when he is in super ghost deini mode.

I am Newgod (a hoy hoy), Thursday, 5 January 2012 18:09 (2 years ago) Permalink

yeah there is enough azaelia discussion elsewhere, but she's definitely a good rapper and fits in this thread imo if Kreayshawn does.

deej listen to "L8R" if you haven't.

The Brainwasher, Thursday, 5 January 2012 18:10 (2 years ago) Permalink

this may lead to a distinction i'm not following: "goon" is different than "rap" how exactly? cause if this is a thread for trap artists exclusively then someone needs to open a separate thread for, what, CONSCIOUS/POP artists or something? And what's the point of that exactly?

Kreayshawn, to restate my earlier position, is fukken horrible.

walking liquidity crisis (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 5 January 2012 18:10 (2 years ago) Permalink

forks disliking kreayshawn = more evidence for the defense obv

kreayshawn rapped like a rapper over a rap beat; we don't dislike pop rap itt, that's always been a staple

Regional Thug (D-40), Thursday, 5 January 2012 18:11 (2 years ago) Permalink

we posted about minaj in the rap threads until she got famous enough to merit her own thread (not because of a stylistic change)

i don't really see why dance rap can't be discussed in here. pretty sure the kid sister/gucci mane collab was posted in last year's thread and no one got butthurt

all i see is angels in my eyes (lex pretend), Thursday, 5 January 2012 18:12 (2 years ago) Permalink

kraey was first picked up by rap fans (for lol n word discussions and rubbish connexions to other rap music) is the difference, no? whereas i needed to read p4k to see az banks.

I am Newgod (a hoy hoy), Thursday, 5 January 2012 18:12 (2 years ago) Permalink

consistently amused by your argument that if i don't like something it's proof that it's worthwhile but if we BOTH like something then it's aok

walking liquidity crisis (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 5 January 2012 18:14 (2 years ago) Permalink

it doesn't really matter to me where ppl talk about banks, i just kinda thought she had reached an audience that transcended us goons. i just think policing the goon thread is okay.

J0rdan S., Thursday, 5 January 2012 18:14 (2 years ago) Permalink

wasn't aware of a.banks as a pitchfork artist, i got her on the jukebox with 212 and then roamed youtube and was impressed and the new single is fucking good.
this attitude that it's the media that gravitates to the art that defines what it is rather than the art itself is spectacularly wrongheaded imo

walking liquidity crisis (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 5 January 2012 18:15 (2 years ago) Permalink

if she drops more songs like l8r its permissible to bring up i guess itt but there's no reason for the world's most popular "i don't like rap, but..." this side of childish gambino to be discussed here.

under no circumstance should someone rapping over blog house be considered for this thread. it's hipster dance music.

Regional Thug (D-40), Thursday, 5 January 2012 18:15 (2 years ago) Permalink

btw something that has bugged me ever since i started posting on ilx is you idiots saying "fukkin" or "fukken" like y'all are eazy or some shit

J0rdan S., Thursday, 5 January 2012 18:16 (2 years ago) Permalink

like, we all dissed that riff raff / diplo song for the same reason

pandemic, Thursday, 5 January 2012 18:18 (2 years ago) Permalink

i think it's more that when you spell out "fucking" it seems really angry, 'fukkin' just makes it seem more guarded & barbed but less "u mad"

honestly, the last 100 posts or so more or less reflect this as fait accompli; halfway surprised you love keeping your sandbox filled with ONLY your rock gardens rather than letting other people in to plant cactus and spread catshit. hermetic approach to music is the fastest means to suffocation

walking liquidity crisis (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 5 January 2012 18:21 (2 years ago) Permalink

that you was directed at the "6-8 posters"

Regional Thug (D-40), Thursday, 5 January 2012 18:23 (2 years ago) Permalink

honestly bitching about the thead title is a tradition that's not going anywhere, & like i said before this one was the most instantly-accepted of the past few years & deej should be proud of himself, but he just made it harder than it had to be. props on doing the right thing cuz

k3vin k., Thursday, 5 January 2012 18:23 (2 years ago) Permalink

actually, you know what: i am actually hella tired of this dynamic.

"fukken" on my part is straight metal-zine speak - not all fukken is drawn from the same source

forks if I paypal you five bucks will you delete deej's bookmarks so he doesn't get to see youtube in the title
