"This is a horrible restaurant. I had the walleye there, and it was very poorly done. It was far too heavily spiced. My friend had a pot pie, which she said was also bad and undercooked. I also ordered red potatoes that tasted like rubber. Please do not go to this restaurant."

Honestly, what is WITH the long line?!?

A crowd attracts a crowd, I get it... but seriously, it is SO not worthy.

A long wait + rushed service + food that is okay, but I could make in my own kitchen for a LOT less = my most recent dining experience at Zaftigs.

I left totally unimpressed wanting to spread the word to the poor souls waiting outside to check out another place right down the street... how about the Paris Creperie or Mike's.

I will NOT be returning or waiting again. Completely OVERRATED!

http://m5.paperblog.com/i/11/114128/the-year-in-revolution-and-riot-from-arab-spr-L-Zmg_s2.jpeg

We went here a few days after Christmas for a special family dinner. My family of 4 asked for recommendations from the concierge at Cosmopollitan and she suggested this restaurant. We made reservations to go after our Michael Jackson show at 9PM.

From the minute we showed up and were seated at a circular table towards the center of the dining area we were immediately disappointed. It took our waiter at least 5 minutes before they even acknowledged us. My mom had time to go to the bathroom and come back and still we waited. When our waiter finally came my dad was very irritated- we were all ravenous and grumpy. When the waiter read off the specials he did so with an aire of complete elitism and arrogance. It put our whole table off and we immediately commented on his attitude of complete boredom with us. He read off the specials quickly slurring his words and not making eye contact. From there the whole tone of the dinner was set.

for a franchise of Macaroni Grill

We loved their chicken soup and the Lamb Spedini. They took both off their menu recently. Too bad - that was the reason my family went there to begin with. Had their pasta dishes - not the kind of sauces I prefer. Classy atmosphere. Snobby waiter staff - they forget that THEY are the one making minimum wage - and that THEY are the one working for their TIP, and THE CUSTOMER should be made to feel COMFORTABLE and at HOME. We enjoyed sitting close to the open kitchen and watch the chef cook our meal. If they get the lamb spedini and chicken soup back on their menu, we may come back. But next time I will put the WAIT STAFF in line when they talk down to us. Maybe the management will read this and give their staff a little ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT.

I ordered the Tuesday night special sausage sampler; you can tell a LOT about a German restaurant by the sausages they serve, and considering they come from a place called Deutchland Meats, you'd think they'd be great. Yeah, not so much. Somehow some of my sausages were simultaneously cold AND burned, and one of the "authentic" sausage selections was a jalapeno-cheese brat (!).

wow sizzler has changed since i been a kid. back then they had an all you can eat with things from fries to nuggets and seafood fried hot appetizers. that was early 90s

Back in 2009, the service here sucked. Well the waitress was helpful. Food was disgusting and the all you can salad bar and hot appetizer was dreadful.

so yelp is a website? all along I thought this thread was about people who perform the action of "yelping" or made doglike barking noises, but once this passed 1000 posts I figured that even for ILX that's a little too much discussion of this

lol this isn't in with any of the jokes we're working on but it came up when i searched for "burned":

To be frank, I don't feel that any loyal customer of a barbershop can write an honest, unbiased review of his barbershop and his barber. The relationship between the barber and the barbered (?) is an intimate one. To trust a person with the appearance of your hair for at least a few weeks requires a level of faith and confidence that makes this business relationship more personal than most.

With this caveat, I am very satisfied with my barber, Joe. He does a good job of cutting my hair, not that that is such a difficult task. It never takes longer than usual he never messes up, at least on my hair. Maybe he's really good at hiding his mistakes. (I guess I don't often look at the back of my head very often.) If you are interested in getting a less traditional cut or just want a female to style your luscious locks, there is a female hair cutter working at the Barbershop at least on Saturdays.

One interesting thing, Joe attends Burning Man during the summer. So for about two weeks, you'll have to go without getting your hairs cut by a professional. Although, it is cool to have a barber that attends burning man.

Can you say RUDE and HORRIBLE service!!! I can't stand going to a place and the only facial expression they have is the "I hate my job and would rather be shot than kindly help you." I love wetzels pretzels but I'll never come back to this one...I highly suggest the owner of this particular franchise fire their employees and start fresh.

This is probably the most disheartening aspect of yelp, so many of the reviewers act like service people who should be their own personal dancing monkeys.

ya but on the coasts we have things called 'people like us on yelp' stickers, you are required by law to put them on the outside on your restaurant. I'm guessing there it's the same with 'go packers' stickers.

iatee, Wednesday, 4 January 2012 20:12 (twelve years ago) link

its odd that everyone is taking the servers' side. i've worked those jobs too but sometimes the server really is an asshole

frogbs, Wednesday, 4 January 2012 20:13 (twelve years ago) link

i mean i think the above person has a point but is just really really bad at expressing him/herself

frogbs, Wednesday, 4 January 2012 20:18 (twelve years ago) link

maybe its a big city thing, where you can conceivably go out 3-4 times a week without hitting the same place in a given year. around here you just kinda know where the good places are

frogbs, Wednesday, 4 January 2012 20:24 (twelve years ago) link

servers are rarely assholes, some adults are just overly sensitive children.

Nicole, Wednesday, 4 January 2012 20:57 (twelve years ago) link

Considering I am usually underdressed, non-drinking, and alone at restaurants, I never really expect much attention.

my favorite yelpers are snarky fauxhawked 18 year old homosexuals from the suburbs named colin d.

ah, how quaint (Matt P), Wednesday, 4 January 2012 21:01 (twelve years ago) link

i think the problem is often that ppl expect very high quality service but don't realize that you get the kind of service you pay for. at really expensive restaurants you pay a lot and the service is compensated better and it often attracts more talented staff who are happier + more fulfilled at their jobs. if you go to a cheap place that pays their waiters minimum wage those waiters might not feel like verbally blowing you is in their job description. that said, if you do go to a really expensive restaurant and you feel disrespected or the service is poor, i think it's perfectly legitimate to not want to go back again!

Mordy, Wednesday, 4 January 2012 21:02 (twelve years ago) link

it also helps a lot if you aren't an asshole

ah, how quaint (Matt P), Wednesday, 4 January 2012 21:05 (twelve years ago) link

cant image what the yelper who thought the macaroni grill server was looking down her nose at them would think was going on inside the head of an employee of a genuinely nice restaurant, prob have to call in homeland security

lag∞n, Wednesday, 4 January 2012 21:06 (twelve years ago) link

"not go back" and "piss and moan on yelp" are two different things. there's some kind of basic human law to not make a big deal out of "bad" service. i eat out all the time and i can't really remember any remarkably horrible service. some people must have wildly inflated expectations about what a dinner in a restaurant is supposed to be like, esp some kind of chain place. just be patient and enjoy your meal, shit.

goole, Wednesday, 4 January 2012 21:07 (twelve years ago) link

haha well i almost think they feel like it was ok since that server is probably making p good $$$ and not MINIMUM WAGE or w/e and thus deserves some modicum of human decency

sulks (Lamp), Wednesday, 4 January 2012 21:07 (twelve years ago) link

feel like the prototypical yelp complains abt some aspect of the service thats not actually off, just offended some random yelper pet peeve

lag∞n, Wednesday, 4 January 2012 21:09 (twelve years ago) link

having served at a p busy brunch place i feel the most true to life yelp complaints are the ones that are like 'we heard about how great this place was and then had to wait in line 45 MINUTES for a table and honestly, i could have just gotten cum in my mouth at home'

sulks (Lamp), Wednesday, 4 January 2012 21:11 (twelve years ago) link

yes, it is v clear to my eyes that reading any of these "yelpers" marks them out as some kind of terrible and blind human being. it's some kind of dog whistle that i can't understand why everyone can't hear it. the site is filled with horrible people writing in a competitive knowitall way acting pissy about decent people who are working. do they not all understand how they are acting out the bitchy maggie smith part in a costume drama?
