Occupy Wall Street 3: Now What?

I've been lurking on this thread for a while and that video has depressed and angered me. I'm in the UK and don't have a lot of money at the moment, but I'm wondering. Is there a site you can send money to that can help with the legal costs of the protesters? No country should be doing that to their citizens. Hope you all come out of this for the better. Apologies for the rambling.

So has Obama or the administration responded at all to police brutality?

Emperor Cos Dashit (Adam Bruneau), Saturday, 19 November 2011 22:58 (twelve years ago) link

If cops start getting reprimanded for this stuff we are going to see less and less enthusiasm to carck down on protests. It's hard for me to imagine this won"t happen with these videos posted all over the place.

Perhaps not actually defending the protesters is enough of a statement.

y'know, when civilians start standing in front of that tank, that is really not going to be creating the kind of photos that the police or the government or anyone really wants to be getting out there

good to know. in the same way that using pepper spray against citizens has apparently been standard operating procedure for nearly 20 years now without any outrage or reporting, I imagine most cops are wondering what the sudden big deal is

On Sunday, protesters plan to rally outside the American Music Awards at L.A.'s Nokia Theatre with the support of Black Eyed Peas rapper Will.i.am, and even plan to put on an Occupy after party, according to Clapier. Will.i.am couldn't be reached to confirm his involvement.

let's raid random houses to check if the battery in their smoke detector is working. if it's not working let's evacuate the residents. fire hazard is no joke.

Charles J. Kelly, a former Baltimore Police Department lieutenant who wrote the department’s use of force guidelines, said pepper spray is a “compliance tool” that can be used on subjects who do not resist, and is preferable to simply lifting protesters.

“When you start picking up human bodies, you risk hurting them,” Kelly said. “Bodies don’t have handles on them.”

After reviewing the video, Kelly said he observed at least two cases of “active resistance” from protesters. In one instance, a woman pulls her arm back from an officer. In the second instance, a protester curls into a ball. Each of those actions could have warranted more force, including baton strikes and pressure-point techniques.

“What I’m looking at is fairly standard police procedure,” Kelly said.

Holy shit, this vid is awesome. When you can't get louder or more raucous, freak the fuck outta people with the power of your silence. You can't even hear footsteps.

Waitamin, digitalSLRs are still as loud as analog ones? that's a lot of cameras snapping.
