yay

I suspect it's largely the butter but many piggy cats will eat anything.

Ms Misery, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 16:19 (sixteen years ago) link

you could try putting some butter on your dick.

Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 16:20 (sixteen years ago) link

xxxpost: but it might just try to eat it anyway because it's conditioned to expect buttery goodness!

bernard snowy, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 16:21 (sixteen years ago) link

I've never had elotes. It seems like it would be tasty, but big jars of mayo sitting in the sun all day on the vendors' carts make me somewhat nervous.

jaymc, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 16:22 (sixteen years ago) link

bernard does "xxxpost" mean what i want it to mean?

Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 16:23 (sixteen years ago) link

that's about twice as much entendre as I'm comfortable with

bernard snowy, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 16:25 (sixteen years ago) link

my cat eats potato chips.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 17 July 2007 16:25 (sixteen years ago) link

xxXpost
you have to get it form a "reputable" cart

carne asada, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 16:26 (sixteen years ago) link

I know a cat who eats tomatoes.

Jordan, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 16:26 (sixteen years ago) link

cats don't eat tomatoes unless you put them on your tits first, IIRC.

Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 16:26 (sixteen years ago) link

oh whoops I guess mine was really only an xxpost in the first place

bernard snowy, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 16:28 (sixteen years ago) link

now see bernard what you were supposed to do there was be confused about whether i meant the cats or the tomatoes

Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 16:30 (sixteen years ago) link

I had a grilled corn on the cob at a festival this weekend and then corn OFF the cob with garlic powder last night. I also enjoy the game corn-hole.

i saw dudes playing that at bonnaroo but i had no idea they were cornholing.

tipsy mothra, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 16:58 (sixteen years ago) link

From what I understand it's like a combination of horseshoes and Bozo buckets?

jaymc, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 16:59 (sixteen years ago) link

^^the first time anyone has said "it's like Bozo buckets" to clarify something

Jordan, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 17:03 (sixteen years ago) link

Where did those dudes get JARTS???? Aren't those banned or something?

Phil D., Tuesday, 17 July 2007 17:10 (sixteen years ago) link

I played Jarts on Memorial Day! Friend has a set leftover from the 80s.

Jordan, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 17:14 (sixteen years ago) link

Further mysteries: if corn is so grand and universally acclaimed, how come corny is bad?

Oilyrags, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 18:46 (sixteen years ago) link

Well, what about "cheesy"? Surely cheese is one of the world's greatest creations.

Ms Misery, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 18:48 (sixteen years ago) link

Indeed, and at the intersection of corn and cheese there exists chips with queso.

Oilyrags, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 18:56 (sixteen years ago) link

and cats luv both.

kingfish, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 18:58 (sixteen years ago) link

corn (1) Look up corn at Dictionary.com
"grain," O.E. corn, from P.Gmc. *kurnam "small seed," from PIE base *ger- "wear away" (O.Slav. zruno "grain," Skt. jr- "to wear down," L. granum). The sense of the O.E. word was "grain with the seed still in" rather than a particular plant. Locally understood to denote the leading crop of a district. Restricted to corn on the cob in America (originally Indian corn, but the adjective was dropped), usually wheat in England, oats in Scotland and Ireland, while korn means "rye" in parts of Germany. Introduced to China by 1550, it thrived where rice did not grow well and was a significant factor in the 18th century population boom there. Cornflakes first recorded 1907. Corned beef so called for the "corns" or grains of salt with which it is preserved. Cornrows as a hair style is first recorded 1971. Corny "old-fashioned" is Amer.Eng. 1932, originally, "something appealing to country folk."

Dear corn on the cob,

I love how I eat you, and then you come out the other end intact so that I can enjoy you again.

Sincerely,

Humansuit.

I love corn this year.

youn, Thursday, 26 June 2008 03:32 (fifteen years ago) link

Do we get different corn here on the East Coast, I mean corn that is different from the corn in CA? It is so much better. Maybe it's because it's from the Midwest here.

youn, Thursday, 26 June 2008 03:34 (fifteen years ago) link

I have yet to have corn on the cob. Need to go buy Doctors brand dental picks first.

Jesse, Thursday, 26 June 2008 03:39 (fifteen years ago) link

The fresh corn on the cob that the BBQ folks were selling at Terrastock was fanfreakingtastic.

Corn on the cob gets in your teeth, man. Don't do it.

Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You, Saturday, 12 July 2008 18:20 (fifteen years ago) link

So does apple skin. The reward is worth the risk.

Oilyrags, Saturday, 12 July 2008 18:24 (fifteen years ago) link

Oh, see now that's not fair. That's not fair at all. I have nothing against apples, man. I love apples. The corn on the cob is harder to get out of your teeth and it gets in between MORE teeth than the apple. It's a totally different thing, yo.

Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You, Saturday, 12 July 2008 19:01 (fifteen years ago) link

I just got back from my wife's family reunion and had some fantastic corn on the cob that was put up in 2005! My wife's aunt uses a vacuum sealer and that stuff apparently keeps forever that way.

Rock Hardy, Saturday, 12 July 2008 20:10 (fifteen years ago) link

Was it frozen?

It does get in your teeth, but that's why there is floss.

Jesse, Saturday, 12 July 2008 23:26 (fifteen years ago) link

Dear Corn on the Cob - it was real hard cutting off your kernels for smoky corn chowder, but soooo worth it. Our dinner guests will LOVE YOU or else they're weird.

xx

Ai Lien, Saturday, 12 July 2008 23:32 (fifteen years ago) link

Yeah, definitely, sealed then frozen. (xpost)

Dear corn on the cob fresh off the grill at the state fair, dunked in a vat of melted butter, lashed lustily with garlic salt...I think about you often. When can we get back together?
