Not long ago I came across a tumblr msg originating from them that said "reblog this is you still want your tumblr to be active in 20 days" or something. It had like 100k reblogs. i haven't, mainly because i don't know where i could post them in those formats, and also thinking that while gifs generally automatically show up and start animating (almost everywhere except facebook, that is), there are sometimes compatibility issues with video/flash, sometimes people need to press the play button to see them, etc
