Lame Satyricon pick.
― Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Thursday, 10 November 2011 00:08 (twelve years ago) link
Also no Melvins is (o_O)
It's a good list, if a bit random on what heaviness actually means. But over half of it is as heavy as balls. The trouble with listing all the heaviest albums ever is it just ends up being a list of Warhorse, Eyehategod, Gojira, Winter, UFOmammut, Anaal Nathrakh etc, and it gets a bit tedious. Anyway, \m/ Dopethrone, 31 - 39 and I own two copies of Iowa.

doran didn't you do a heaviest metal albums list for nme once?
― (Algerian Goalkeeper) Vs (Armand Schaubroeck Ratfucker), Thursday, 10 November 2011 00:27 (twelve years ago) link
Own 21, to my own surprise. Like all of them, too.
'Fat Of The Land' can go fuck itself imho. I'm mostly surprised at Mogwai's ep included here (which does rule, but still, v surprising)
― Y Kant Lou Reed (Le Bateau Ivre), Thursday, 10 November 2011 00:37 (twelve years ago) link
Yeah, and it was a lot heavier than that and everyone just complained about the amount of doom and death metal I chose but that's what I perceive to be heavy. This kind of list is actually be ok, probably better than mine if you had the reasoning in a paragraph next to each one. In a way the heaviosity achieved by unsuspecting Beatles fans by The White Album back in the day must have been pretty immense.

i think 29 of these? i cant remember if i actually own a couple, so i comfortably voted in the 20-29 bracket

I own 25.
How did The Prodigy end up in this list? Especially with this album? (Not in any way metal, but Jilted Generation is heavier, harsher, etc.)
― Sebastian (Royal Mermaid Mover), Thursday, 10 November 2011 01:48 (twelve years ago) link
2. Beatles and NIN.
― I am using your worlds, Thursday, 10 November 2011 01:52 (twelve years ago) link
I didn't know Kerrang was still going.
its been covering emo, mall punk, alt rock and zero metal and pretty boys in make up on the cover every week (just like the 80s) for years now. No doubt normal service will be resumed next week.
― (Algerian Goalkeeper) Vs (Armand Schaubroeck Ratfucker), Thursday, 10 November 2011 02:00 (twelve years ago) link
top 3 could be about right surprisingly. starting with slipknot at no. 4, this thing takes a sharp turn into weirdville.
― charlie h, Thursday, 10 November 2011 02:14 (twelve years ago) link
oops I misread the poll. Voted for owning 2. If it's for how many I like it would be higher.
― I am using your worlds, Thursday, 10 November 2011 02:23 (twelve years ago) link
i thought on a board with journos who get promos and a bunch of people who download stuff that voting for how many you like might be more accurate

I've got 20 of these in some capacity. I see Mogwai is on the list, too, but for 'My Father My King'? That's a single or an EP, isn't it?

One right, the other was Nirvana.

Think I own about 10 of them, like a few more than that, never listened to most of the rest. The Beatles is the only one I've heard that I find actively unpleasant.

I own 13, like about 27 (can't remember if I've heard that particular Cathedral album). Which I guess means it's not too bad a list, although I'm not convinced of the "heaviness" of some of them.
― The Eyeball Of Hull (Colonel Poo), Thursday, 10 November 2011 14:14 (twelve years ago) link
own 16, like 18. I would switch 1 and 2. Master of Reality is the album I judge all other albums by, be it for heaviness or not.

British Steel is full of the kind of tunes you can whistle in the shower. Even if that shower might be in prison.
I like "United" a lot. Don't own that album though.
