OMG I WANT TO SEE DAN IN A SPIDERMAN COSTUME

John... gah, I'm actually so grossed out that I'm speechless.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 22:52 (fifteen years ago) link

I keep thinking of stuff to add to the minor embarrassments thread, but somehow it all seems to mundane next to everyone else's. Ooooh, I threw up on my desk in first grade. Who didn't?

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 22:53 (fifteen years ago) link

Apparently the costume is my "gift" for doing this.

Maybe I'll wear it to the Fair!

HI DERE, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 22:53 (fifteen years ago) link

Friend: (to J031) He can wear it for Halloween.
J031: Have you EVER seen either of us dress up for Halloween?
Friend: Well, now you can! You should by a Catwoman costume.
J031: waht

HI DERE, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 22:54 (fifteen years ago) link

Wow, I would dearly love to have you two come to my door on Halloween dressed that way. My kids would be so excited!

Also TEH ROFFLES.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 23:05 (fifteen years ago) link

I fear that a Spiderman costume might be too warm to wear to the Fair, but otherwise I'm all for it.

(I'll be walking behind you... about 500 feet.)

This thread title looks more like an Aphex Twin video every week. That's all. Thanks.

BLACK BEYONCE, Thursday, 14 August 2008 03:20 (fifteen years ago) link

BLACK BEYONCE, Thursday, 14 August 2008 03:20 (fifteen years ago) link

Hey gbx. How's school?

John, I think you know the answer to that question, at least for yourself.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 14 August 2008 03:54 (fifteen years ago) link

woah booze. my old friend. wow.

tehresa, Thursday, 14 August 2008 04:23 (fifteen years ago) link

Sounds like you're having a good night. (?)

I ate a bunch of peanut butter M&Ms, which have got to be as addictive as crack. YUM

Sara R-C, Thursday, 14 August 2008 05:05 (fifteen years ago) link

i had a lovely evening with mussels and then drinks at w village piano bar where ppl sing along to broadway songs. i realize i do not know any of the words to anything except most of 'on my own' and 'part of your world.' also i think m4rv1n h4ml1sch was there for a while which is funny bc i have spoken to him on the phone many times but was still afraid to go say hi.

tehresa, Thursday, 14 August 2008 05:25 (fifteen years ago) link

I am afraid to think about how many Broadway songs I know. There's no good reason for me to know them.

(Also, tehresa, thanks to you now my morning is going to be full of "when I'm down and I'm feeling bluuuuuue, I close my eyes so I can be with yooooooooouuuuu," which, uh, I wasn't planning. Yesterday it was that version of "Bang Bang" that's at the beginning of Kill Bill, Vol. 1, so at least it's something new for the day...)

PS You should have said "hi!"

Sara R-C, Thursday, 14 August 2008 12:40 (fifteen years ago) link

oooh that's roseanne cash i think (bang bang)? lovvvvve that. i always wish they had it at karaoke, but htey never do.

i have been investigating and it appears this man looks like him some time ago. most recent photos would indicate it was not him, unless he de-aged somewhat and lost like 50 lbs in the last year.

tehresa, Thursday, 14 August 2008 12:43 (fifteen years ago) link

Is it Roseanne Cash? I have no idea, but I did think, "hmmmm, is there a soundtrack to this that I could by?" by the end of the movie. You'll be horrified to note that I have the Cher version of that song on my iPod.

He could have de-aged and lost 50 pounds in the last year if he had been following Oprah's buddy Dr. Oz's advice. (I watched Oprah for the first time in about 10 years the other day and that was the topic)

Sara R-C, Thursday, 14 August 2008 12:57 (fifteen years ago) link

the version in Kill Bill is the Nancy Sinatra one.

BLACK BEYONCE, Thursday, 14 August 2008 14:43 (fifteen years ago) link

oh yeah that's what i meant. all the way to work i was like 'wait not roseanne cash that other chick related to a famous dude!'

tehresa, Thursday, 14 August 2008 14:53 (fifteen years ago) link

attn: "Paper Planes" is fucking awesome

HI DERE, Thursday, 14 August 2008 15:13 (fifteen years ago) link

HI DERE, Thursday, 14 August 2008 15:35 (fifteen years ago) link

remy bean, Thursday, 14 August 2008 16:04 (fifteen years ago) link

haha practically every time I hear it, yes

HI DERE, Thursday, 14 August 2008 16:07 (fifteen years ago) link

xp Thanks for the info, John.

Okay, what is "Paper Planes?" (I can't even go to iTunes to listen to a clip because of my %^&*ing ISP, so just tell me all about it)

Sara R-C, Thursday, 14 August 2008 16:37 (fifteen years ago) link

it appears to be an MIA song

tehresa, Thursday, 14 August 2008 17:14 (fifteen years ago) link

yup, it is the song that's been getting played during the commercials/trailers for "Pineapple Express"

HI DERE, Thursday, 14 August 2008 17:17 (fifteen years ago) link

i don't "get it"

tehresa, Thursday, 14 August 2008 17:17 (fifteen years ago) link

it is "awesome"

HI DERE, Thursday, 14 August 2008 17:28 (fifteen years ago) link

tehresa, Thursday, 14 August 2008 17:32 (fifteen years ago) link

"I see."

"Thanks."

Sara R-C, Thursday, 14 August 2008 17:34 (fifteen years ago) link

I "do" say so

HI DERE, Thursday, 14 August 2008 17:35 (fifteen years ago) link

"ok then"

tehresa, Thursday, 14 August 2008 17:35 (fifteen years ago) link

Strategically-placed quotes can make anything sound sarcastic

HI DERE, Thursday, 14 August 2008 17:35 (fifteen years ago) link

i should have said '"ok" then' actually... ah well.

tehresa, Thursday, 14 August 2008 17:36 (fifteen years ago) link

i have just sent another rambling email to bookstore position found on craig's list. but, ya know, i figure if they think i'm a dick because of it, they probably won't like me in person either, so it saves us both time and effort.

Rubyredd, Thursday, 14 August 2008 17:41 (fifteen years ago) link

that's the american spirit!!
you are catching on very well, rr!

tehresa, Thursday, 14 August 2008 17:42 (fifteen years ago) link

i can't remember if i mentioned this already, but i made amazing semi-vegan burgers last night. fucking delicious. those morning star burgers are a pretty damn fine impersonation of an impersonation of a burger (impersonation burgers made from actual meat are my favourite, like the mcdonald's variety).

xpost

thanks tza!!!

Rubyredd, Thursday, 14 August 2008 17:43 (fifteen years ago) link

Which Morningstar Farms ones were they? (I usually eat the Black Bean ones, but I don't find them particularly like a real burger.)

Sara R-C, Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:25 (fifteen years ago) link

the mushroom ones are good

remy bean, Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:25 (fifteen years ago) link

i haven't had anything morningstar in ages. i always thought the boca "burger" burgers (not veg burgers) were good. gardenburger used to have a good one w/ mushrooms and rice in it i think?

tehresa, Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:26 (fifteen years ago) link

i can't remember, but they're not made from veggies, they're fake meat. fuckin awesome.

REMY REMY REMY REMY REMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i have a question for you, i asked on another thread, totally unrelated to the subject but you are hard to find sometimes: what is it like working at borders? i'm thinking about applying at barnes and noble soon, if this independent-bookstore hunt i'm on doesn't pan out. but i'm not sure if it will be awful??

Rubyredd, Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:30 (fifteen years ago) link

I used to work at Barnes and Noble and it was really pretty fun, at least when we had a good manager (which was not always, unfortunately). I don't know how much it would differ from working at Borders...

Sara R-C, Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:32 (fifteen years ago) link

Okay I have switched from M.I.A. to Radiohead

WHAT'S THIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIS

HI DERE, Thursday, 14 August 2008 21:12 (fifteen years ago) link

I am listening to the quiet of the upstairs of my house. But I can hear J downstairs, flipping through whatever she's watching on the TiVo. I am a Bad Mommy.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 14 August 2008 22:00 (fifteen years ago) link

Only if you've been save Real Sex episodes with no parental control code!

HI DERE, Thursday, 14 August 2008 22:03 (fifteen years ago) link

ha ha, no, I haven't even seen that! Probably the worst thing she could come across would be the season finale of Lost.

I do let the kids watch The Simpsons, which has led to all kinds of fun moments. I like it when J says, "DOH!"

Sara R-C, Thursday, 14 August 2008 22:20 (fifteen years ago) link

I AM DOING NOTHING IN CARMEL.

But being lazy and smug.

:-D

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 14 August 2008 22:32 (fifteen years ago) link

Ned, sometimes I don't "love" you.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 14 August 2008 22:39 (fifteen years ago) link

This evening I discovered that there is a fine line between drinking to take the edge of off a hangover and drinking to drunking again. I regrets nuffin.
