Yeah there's a lot of predictable copycat lame rubbish out there, but it doesn't really apply to an artist like skrillex, who really has got some splendid ideas in there.

Most of which he predictably copycatted off Reso and Lone Wolf off Bloodied Blade fame.

the from first to last thing doesn't give the skrillah a pass, even they were pretty derivative mall screamo in that hawthore heights / everytime i die / thursday etc camp, he doesn't need to go back to the band thing unless it involved dubstep guitar and willing himself out of existence

fauxmarc, Saturday, 29 October 2011 11:40 (1 year ago) Permalink

hah watching that cover performed live made me connect more with dubstep #rockist

I was kinda thinking that when you are reading sci fi dystopian novels and they talk about punks and cyberpunk and w/e you kind of picture these guitars with computers in them and that's what the guys in that video have, a fucking wireless thumbring that wobbles the bass and the azn guy's got a pda ducttaped next to the knobs and it's all gated digital clipped shards

BROSTEP IS THE MUSIC OF THE FUTURE GET ON THE BULLET TRAIN NOW

B&B is still kinda before my time, but i'm shocked that this didn't even get like 10% of the overzealous internet reaction as arrested development

Youth Ya Goon (Whiney G. Weingarten), Monday, 31 October 2011 05:13 (1 year ago) Permalink

eh, everyone loved beavis and butthead. my mom loved it. i didn't.

fauxmarc, Monday, 31 October 2011 06:17 (1 year ago) Permalink

i'm not sure internet reactions really existed at the time past mailing lists

fauxmarc, Monday, 31 October 2011 06:18 (1 year ago) Permalink

he's talking about how bevis & butthead are back w/ new episodes, just like arrested development.

⚓ (gr8080), Monday, 31 October 2011 06:28 (1 year ago) Permalink

Sure it's a racket. Sure there's a lot of screeching and grinding and not a lot of sub. Sure Sonny Moore looks like a Vril-Ya crossed with Trent Reznor, but frogbs thing about it demanding your attention with fUCK YEaH vibes - what is wrong with that? Isn't that the point?

There's nothing wrong with that if its what you choose to listen to. I really like Guitar Wolf and Squarepusher but I wouldn't play it at a party.

frogbs, Monday, 31 October 2011 13:15 (1 year ago) Permalink

Would you play Kode9 at a party?

There's loads of stuff I like that I wouldn't play at a party.

I wouldn't, but I still hear this stuff all the damn time

Mum-Ra Gaddafi the Ever-Living (dog latin), Wednesday, 2 November 2011 10:00 (1 year ago) Permalink

Were there this many embarrassing Moby collabs a decade ago? (Don't answer that.)

The Reverend, Wednesday, 2 November 2011 11:04 (1 year ago) Permalink

What's Moby got to do with Van Dyke Parks?

Mum-Ra Gaddafi the Ever-Living (dog latin), Wednesday, 2 November 2011 11:14 (1 year ago) Permalink

I know I've been Cap'n Save A Skrillex on this thread, but Van Dyke Parks arranging for him is plain unacceptable.
