I talked to main Dum Dum Dee Dee about the new album here (though I actually don't personally like it as much as this might imply):

She sounds SO MUCH like Chrissie Hynde on the single that it's jarring. The slow one - is it "Coming Down"? - is really, really pretty.

She sounds like Hynde on huge chunks of the new album, actually.

yeah, that's true. i hear some hybrid of the go-gos; the pretenders; and some 50s acts i can't recall by name.

The other thing about that "Coming Down" is that it's the exact chord progression and tempo of "Fade Into You" by Mazzy Star, but it works anyway.

^^ OTM! My brain kept mashing them up when I first heard it. It also sounds a bit like that Venus in Furs song '2HB' off the Velvet Underground sountrack.I'm liking this album well enough. They remind me a little bit of Long Blondes too.

I love this record. Although for some reason they stashed all their best songs on side 2.
