Search: "Trouble Come Down" from the Satchel album with the clouds on it ("EDC"?)
The Shawn Smith solo song that they used in an episode of the Sopranos this year was incredible.
I love the first Brad album, "Shame," too -- his voice makes it sound totally unique.
I have never heard any Pigeonhed -- where do I start?

i've never heard any Brad! I love parts of that first Satchel record though (whats the one "Chelsea here..."?) & I like the first Pigeonhead record pretty much too and would recommend you start there.

(x-post Pigeonhed) they've only got two albums (plus a compilation of remixes from singles off the second) so start with whichever you can find. The first is Pigeonhed, the second is The Full Sentence. Both are ace, the second is probably a bit better. Should both still be in print and available from subpop.com if you can't find 'em in shops.

also totally search the first Twilight Singers album (Twilight As Played By The...). Dulli + Smith = best two-voice combination in a band evah.

Holy shit, I had no idea Shawn Smith was in the Twilight Singers -- is he still?!?! I just passed up a promo of that new album of theirs, with all the cover songs! Damn it!

he's only on the first album (the later stuff pales)

I was tempted to say something flippant about Shawn Smith but then I remembered his verse on "Twilight" and nixed that idea fast.

twelve years pass...

Saw him in a tiny pub up the road last night - solo on a small keyboard, doing stuff from across his career (and a couple of Prince covers). Gorgeous, life-affirming show and I got a bear hug from the big ol limp, too.

Am having a bit of a shitty day, and ‘Wrapped In My Memory’ absolutely floored me just now.

two years pass...

The final Brad album was just released on the 28th, called In the Moment That You’re Born. Only seeing vinyl and digital releases so far, no cd yet, but glad for more of Shawn’s voice.
