"NYC" appears to have been set in plain type and then emboldened w/o adjusting kerning.

Nowehere near as good as the London olympics logo.

Abbott, Thursday, 20 December 2007 01:43 (sixteen years ago) link

Yeah, the NYC is way overbolded.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 20 December 2007 01:44 (sixteen years ago) link

Even correcting for "NYC", the design is clearly amateurish.

libcrypt, Thursday, 20 December 2007 01:47 (sixteen years ago) link

Agreed. It's not properly proportioned at all, and whoever designed it robbed the city blind.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 20 December 2007 01:48 (sixteen years ago) link

Uh, link to NYTimes article about it. But the NYC is the new NYC logo (and is a bit meh but OK when used appropriately), and it was added inappropriately to the taxis. Design by bureaucracy etc.

Casuistry, Thursday, 20 December 2007 01:50 (sixteen years ago) link

Oh, that's the NYC logo? If you're going to logo-fy your municipality, take a cue from the Canadians and do it with a little bit of artistic decorum.

The lack of space between the letters, "N", "Y", and "C", ought appear less accidental.

libcrypt, Thursday, 20 December 2007 01:56 (sixteen years ago) link

it's just bad enough to be awesome.

El Tomboto, Thursday, 20 December 2007 01:58 (sixteen years ago) link

Agreed. It's not properly proportioned at all, and whoever designed it robbed the city blind.

Looks like they did it for free.

The Potts version also has "Watch where you're drivin', motherf***er!" on the hood, so you know what to say when you nearly get run over by one.

snoball, Monday, 24 December 2007 14:44 (sixteen years ago) link

Wow. This Mr. Potts is a real winner. His website is awesome.
