chaki, you need to clarify your humour sometimes - i didn't know you were just messing with me. it's no big deal, but i thought you were giving me shit. it's awesome you're defending your ilx bros, but maybe it would have been better if you just said that right up front, and explained what all this was about. because the rest of us here have been utterly clueless, and that hasn't helped your case.

i'm in no position to comment on luna because i only really know of her through her casual posts on this thread, but i do miss sam already :(.

People are pointing out that one person has not only gone through a long period of persona-building and misrepresentation (which would be one thing), but actively fucked with and embarrassed people over it in ways that sound ... not cool, to say the least.

I'm fully aware who the Lollies song is about, and I'm (I think) fully aware what it is about.

Was there really any need to bring it up other than she was vaguely defending Luna though? Or is it part of some bigger 'fake' outing - because if you don't believe, frankly, that people can change as they grow up (not least in that aspect) then you're kidding yourself.

Chaki is being fairly graceless, but he's also frustrated as all get-out that people are attacking him on no other basis than the fact that he's calling out someone "beloved" of the softer side of ILX. And I don't know Luna at all, have never really interacted with her, but from what I'm hearing there have been a string of gents from ILX who've had their heads fucked with.

Now, none of those guys is my personal problem, thank goodness. But I'm uncomfortable with the idea that there's someone who picks up on people who are feeling vulnerable/susceptible, based on their personal posts on ILX, and uses these boards as a stalking ground. Esp since when they find out that something has been wrong all along, they're about as likely to cry "foul" as a woman who's been taken advantage of after she did or said something ill-advised -- of course it wasn't THEIR fault, but it's perceived as embarrassing to have been suckered, esp emotionally. I don't like that at all, and I think it would be unfair to ignore that phenomenon.

You state that two posters were badly hurt by Luna. Who exactly? If it comes to unqualifiable statements I myself know of 53 people who have left because of the NB and it's shenanigans.

the thing is, kv_nol, this isn't an unqualifiable statement. there are quite a mass of people who have known/suspected/experienced some -- we shall call them 'significant factual discrepancies' -- about this poster for a long time. years, in cases to which i can personally attest. for the most part, people have kept this knowledge under their hats and let her post as she likes. but there are off-board events as well, off-board discrepancies and no-shows and feints, that i will also attest to, and for obvious reasons the people involved don't feel the need to be IDed.

now, i could actually give two shits about how real or not luna is. i might've even met her. who knows? but when confronted with first-hand experiences of her dicking over people that i do know are for real, it's hard to keep totally quiet.

i don't mean to add to the cruelty pig-pile, to disparage her baselessly, or whatever the accusations are -- but i don't think that announcing there's something that seems, err, very fishy qualifies as either cruel or baseless at all.

I mean, the fact that Tep hasn't posted here for six months is proof of what, exactly? That he was heart-broken and ashamed? Or that his feelings at the time don't matter anymore because Luna is still a regular poster and he isn't?

Alright, I just got a webmail clearing up one or two things. I am not getting involved in the Luna thing anymore. I feel that though chaki feels he is doing the right thing he is acting in a particularly snotty manner. There was no need to dredge up a part of Misery's history (that she has faced and put behind her both on ILX and in her real life) and that is completely unrelated to what's happening here. That was a completely assholish thing to do Chaki. There's warning and there's being a dick. You are currently being a dick. Your point has been made so calm the fuck down with the hounding please.

But why the personal attacks on someone defending her? You could have webmailed or explained properly. Instead people just started piling on and no one outside of your little circle knew wtf was going on!

People have been piling on Chaki since the beginning and no one was freaking out and leaving threads over THAT.

I do, however, agree that Chaki has been way funnier lately if you happen to have already thought Luna was fake -- probably looked a lot dickier if that had somehow magically never occurred to you.

Also, I love deeply questionable garage/DIY/budget rock, but that crack about crappy rockabilly was hilarious.

I've heard of one person being a bit led on by her (didn't realise it was a serial thing and as I hadn't known of anything on- or off-board didn't realise these things were so relevant to posting about kids and dogs and idiot co-workers or whatever), but I think the piling onto people who don't know about her off-board life, or aren't going to make the same mistake, or don't actually care that much if a poster posts fake photos of herself, is pretty shitty behaviour. aldo and kv_nol pretty much OTM throughout.

it's difficult to take one side over the other, I don't really think anyone should be at war over this but I am pretty certain the stories about ilx guys being treated badly/oddly/unfairly are true, at least in one case.

I hate to think how this might affect some of those in question and if I was 100 per cent certain of events perhaps I would muster some of the anger and distaste that others have here.

But as I say in one case I am pretty sure I know what happened.

Now perhaps the issue shouldn't be discussed at length here, but given that it now has been brought up it seems pretty certain many people will feel vindictive about that.

One major point: I certainly wouldn't refute any accusations if I had only heard them as of today or yesterday and I advise others to consider this. Cos rest assured this "weirdness" and these stories has been a sort of taboo around here for years.

I have not had the webmail. My point with Tep was not that his not posting here was as a result of the Luna thing - particularly since he posted on his blog as recently as YESTERDAY about their status, and to my recollection he only posted to I Love Cooking for the last couple of months he was online which wa sprobably getting on for a year ago - but that it was not happening as a result of anything here.

Everybody is capable of carrying out all kinds of shite in their real lives. Does that mean it has to get smeared everywhere?

Umm, okay, it's not just a matter of "Luna messed with someone in her personal life" -- the claim being advanced here (and again, I'm not saying), is that she is a fake all the way through. That her entire self-representation on this board is fake, that she is not who she claims to be.

I mean, fine if you think she's a good friend to chat about dogs with, but just beware the possibility that your dog-chat friend is the kind of person who creates an alter-ego on a message board, posts pictures of some random hot chick, then starts weird long-distance emotional relationships with dudes she never intends to see -- i.e., what we normally call "kinda psycho."

I don't necessarily think that she's fake as in "she's really a 50-year-old dude who lives in his mom's basement," but it doesn't surprise me in the least that she's strung guys along and fucked them over, based on the brief bits of off-board interaction I've had with her.

Let me clear something up. I'm saying that people didn't know what was going on and going "ZOMG you didn't realise she was fake look at all these relationships you knew nothing about IDIOT" is a shitty thing to do to people who don't notice things about posters that don't get publicised on the board. I don't know a hell of a lot about anyone on here other than what they choose to disclose (purposefully or inadvertently), and by and large I don't see the relevance. People are now aware of what some people's beef is with her, and that makes a huge difference. But tootling around calling people out for not knowing something that hasn't been an issue = not terribly nice.

He's been taking the heat since middle of last week, when in fact he's just been gently needling the poster formerly known as Luna -- a needling to which she reacts unnecessarily strongly, some might say, and it's her OWN vehemence about being questioned that has led other posters to be all save-a-ho.

Oh pardon me for not reading every thread ever. Nabisco's been posting things like "I'm shocked people didn't realise this", "OK, chaki might seem dickish if you somehow magically hadn't realised that luna was fake" which reads like strong hints of "haha, you be stupid". In fact, way back when this cropped up at first I asked chaki to explain and his reply was "im just puttin two and two together. not that difficult people!!!". Maybe I'm just too sensitive. Whatever.
