Looks I can upload songs, but for some reason I can't post in the chat...

Tuomas, Thursday, 15 September 2011 19:36 (twelve years ago) link

Your username doesn't appear in the list of people in the room either. The tracks you're uploading play alright though.

serve soup without tasting it (snoball), Thursday, 15 September 2011 19:41 (twelve years ago) link

That's weird.

Tuomas, Thursday, 15 September 2011 19:48 (twelve years ago) link

Anyone want to keep me company while I feel a bit sick?

emil.y, Friday, 16 September 2011 01:06 (twelve years ago) link

I'm in, but I still seem to be unable to post anything in the chat. And other people's chat posts don't update automatically to me, I have to refresh to see any new posts... I wonder what could be causing this? It's not a server thing AFAIK, because I tried both Firefox and Chrome, and it's the same thing with both.

Tuomas, Friday, 16 September 2011 19:53 (twelve years ago) link

"it's not a browser thing"

Tuomas, Friday, 16 September 2011 19:54 (twelve years ago) link

Weird, the Outloud ILXORS front page says that there's no-one in the room. It says that your track is playing though.

{snoball signs in}

...and I can hear the track as well.

serve soup without tasting it (snoball), Friday, 16 September 2011 19:56 (twelve years ago) link

Yeah, it's a weird a thing. I assumed it had something to do with FF updates, but the same problem remains with Chrome, so it can't be that.

Tuomas, Friday, 16 September 2011 19:58 (twelve years ago) link

Maybe I'll try creating a new user profile...

Tuomas, Friday, 16 September 2011 19:58 (twelve years ago) link

I use Firefox 5.0, and Outloud is one of the sites that I don't have a problem with.

serve soup without tasting it (snoball), Friday, 16 September 2011 19:59 (twelve years ago) link

I log in with my Twitter acc, if that makes any difference.

serve soup without tasting it (snoball), Friday, 16 September 2011 20:00 (twelve years ago) link

So do I, but it still doesn't work.

Tuomas, Friday, 16 September 2011 20:02 (twelve years ago) link

it's a common bug on outloud. Happens to quite a few people. Esp nakh and leee. Nakh is osmetimes allowed in but never works at all for others.

Armand Schaubroeck Ratfucker, Friday, 16 September 2011 20:02 (twelve years ago) link

I wonder what could be causing it, if it's not the browser. It's never happened to me before.

Tuomas, Friday, 16 September 2011 20:03 (twelve years ago) link

Anyway, this means I probably won't be using Outloud anymore. :( Being able to chat about the songs playing was the best thing about it, it's no fun without that.

Just got this email from outloud.fm corporate:

Dear Outloud User,

Hello. We hope you are enjoying the ILXORS room on outloud.fm. In our effort to provide the most compelling musical environment possible, we would like to remind you that the playing of bullshit soundtrack music (whether TV horseshit like Miami Vice or just str8 up crappy film scores like the gizawdawful one that natters on behind The Neverending Story) are strictly forbidden and will automatically shut down the room for a period of 24 hours. So don't play that shit!

Sincerely,

Jean-Jacques Mise-En-Bande

Must be the real thing, broken English and all (should be "IS strictly forbidden...").

Sir,

My apologies. I believe the offending party was me, and I was fast asleep on the couch when you made that request. For future complaints, I do recommend that you redirect your complaint about this particular gizawdawful score to Mr. Giorgio Moroder, as he is the one responsible for creating this piece of music. In the future, my colleagues and I will be sure to keep your detailed individual preferences in mind when considering tracks for the group.

Yours,
LL

I don't think so -- there was a time right around nu Shjips that I made an executive decision to take a nap (a nap?!) and that's all she wrote. Now it's today. :(

some lady (La Lechera), Saturday, 17 September 2011 14:36 (twelve years ago) link

Dear LL,

Thank you for your response. However, our records indicate that a certain female-fronted-heavy-metal-hating individual also played the offending genre in the form of one sorry Jan Hammer. More importantly, I must assure you that this room closing feature is built into Outloud itself (naturally, it would seem) and does not stem from my own detailed individual preferences. In fact, as a member of a busy Québécois wedding band, I myself adore music that signifies nothing (except maybe extreme annoyance) outside of its immediate context (and often precious little inside of it). But do not despair! All other offending musics are free to play: slow-ass, non-anxious-sounding, sample-free hip-hop; long-ass Yo La Tengo tracks that sound great on their respective albums but somehow fizzle in Outloud (which even the player of one of these tracks admitted last night!); incorrect Pebbles; indie samba (or at least that's how the Outloud censors tracked it); horrid new age versions of Blondie's "Call Me;" and "Te Quiero" by Nigga. And as always, please feel free to play great music such as Dr. Buzzard and Hawkwind-inspired stoner-psych.

Sincerely,

Jean-Jacques Mise-En-Bande
