Internet Explorer 7 has a new interface that shows more of each webpage you visit. The streamlined toolbar makes it easier to add websites to your Favorites, search the web, clear your history, and access the other tasks and tools you use most.

Forest Pines, see this thread: Can you unblock HTTP from 65.57.245.11?
― stet, Saturday, 30 June 2007 12:07 (sixteen years ago) link
Ty Stet - I will try that next time I am on my PC
― Forest Pines Mk2, Saturday, 30 June 2007 15:06 (sixteen years ago) link
Yep - that's the issue I was having. I can access ILX fine if I disable TCP window scaling.
― Forest Pines Mk2, Sunday, 1 July 2007 16:19 (sixteen years ago) link

errrrm ok i am getting this message when i try to post
ILX 2 7648596109056869822: Failed to insert message.
but only in firefox, works fine in opera and ie
This is now happening to me in Firefox as well.
― J, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 17:53 (sixteen years ago) link
We've seen that problem a couple of times, aye. A couple of people had success by nuking cookies; one guy said it went away when Firefox was started in safe mode. I wonder if there's a common FF extension that's somehow messing things up?
Forest Pines: that other problem should be fixed now.
― stet, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 18:01 (sixteen years ago) link
been like this all day for me now.
if its any help i also get a blank screen on the http://www.ilxor.com/ILX/LoginControllerServlet page, altho it does seem to still log me in
― r|t|c, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 18:02 (sixteen years ago) link
so maybe that does point to a cookie issue, i dunno
― r|t|c, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 18:03 (sixteen years ago) link
yup, same thing for me. I deleted all of my ILX cookies and started again, but that didn't seem to help either. I'm going to try disabling some extensions and see what that does.
― J, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 18:05 (sixteen years ago) link
You can try starting in safe mode to safely kill them all, before trying the one-by-one: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode
― stet, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 18:06 (sixteen years ago) link
ok nuking cookies and restart didnt help
sigh shall go ahead and list all my exts

Hang on, I'll get the list
Currently disabled:
Dictionary Tooltip 1.1.2 Master Password Timeout 0.2.5 Slashdotter 1.8.9 Stealther 0.99 TrackMeNot 0.5.15 User Agent Switcher 0.6.10 Woot Watcher 0.5

I'm thinking it's TrackMeNot
― J, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 18:18 (sixteen years ago) link
It is - and the site feels much faster now, too! Hurrah!
― Forest Pines Mk2, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 18:19 (sixteen years ago) link
It'll be stealther. If it interferes with your referrer, it'll stop the code that checks you're trying to post from an ILX domain. I disabled that a while back, because it kept turning itself off and on seemingly randomly.
― stet, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 18:19 (sixteen years ago) link
er "that" == Stealther.
― stet, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 18:20 (sixteen years ago) link

― r|t|c, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 18:20 (sixteen years ago) link
― J, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 18:21 (sixteen years ago) link
Nope, it's TrackMeNot!
Coo ur. Well there you are. I'll update the FAQ later.
― stet, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 18:21 (sixteen years ago) link
and it is indeed trackmenot. (cos i dont have stealther)
KUDOS GOOD SIR

Thanks guys.
― J, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 18:32 (sixteen years ago) link
Haha! "Track me not"!.. Yes, that will fuck it up properly. ILX checks your referrer to see if you're coming from one of the three legal URLs.
― Keith, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 22:45 (sixteen years ago) link
Top one, Keith!

Are the Sandbox threads not integrated with all the others? I was futilely searching for a thread until I realized it was on the Sandbox, and found it there instead.

― El Tomboto, Saturday, 7 July 2007 07:28 (sixteen years ago) link
No they're not, but I spent a very pleasant couple of hours trawling through all threads there (I was trying to find the ILX reaction to Catherine Tate in Doctor Who the first time round). Seconded for any request to move them over here (I can't remember if that was possible or not)
― ailsa, Saturday, 7 July 2007 08:28 (sixteen years ago) link
Hah, that's exactly what I was looking for too.

(looking at it logs you out of here though, bah)
thanks!

can we get back all date-related searches ordered by board then date? searching for all threads last changed on a given day or started in a given month brings back results for all boards which is too much information (have to filter out the 90% of boards you know are wrong)
― koogs, Tuesday, 10 July 2007 15:40 (sixteen years ago) link
We REALLY REALLY need changeable screen names back. I don't care what it takes, or even if it's not possible, but we need it anyway.

Mods and admins, remind me again about changeable screen names. Is it impossible, or just difficult? It's the best feature of old-ILX that we don't have anymore. Bring it back!
― Rock Hardy, Saturday, 4 August 2007 01:39 (sixteen years ago) link
I think the thing is that it eats up a lot of data
― Curt1s Stephens, Saturday, 4 August 2007 01:41 (sixteen years ago) link
er, the data involved eat up a lot of server space, that is
― Curt1s Stephens, Saturday, 4 August 2007 01:42 (sixteen years ago) link
so many punchlines are lost by having the registered name instead of the joke email showing on old threads
