Gukbe, Monday, 29 August 2011 03:02 (twelve years ago) link

is there like a blog house underground for post-dubstep happening now?

mr peabody (moonship journey to baja), Monday, 29 August 2011 03:02 (twelve years ago) link

i mean i guess i've heard of roska, lunice and funkineven

mr peabody (moonship journey to baja), Monday, 29 August 2011 03:03 (twelve years ago) link

dunno i don't really follow anything - it's usually whatever's downloaded recently from juno/wasabeat/bagpak

fauxmarc, Monday, 29 August 2011 12:43 (twelve years ago) link

Really nice mix there 'Wyatt Purp'. I especially enjoy the first half, although the Bashmore remix of Into The Valley is one of the best straight house songs in recent memory. Also, Maceo Plex - Fallin <3<3<3

Can I ask if you're a member of Future Funk Airlines by chance? You're playing so much of the music we love!

viborg, Monday, 29 August 2011 17:33 (twelve years ago) link

thanks! i am glad you dig it. and no, i was previously unaware of future funk airlines but it looks sweet so thx again

Are your internet ears burning? We were just talking about you...apparently one of the regulars is an acquaintance of yours. I actually thought you might be the same person at first, which is kind of why I brought it up in the first place....anyway that Turntable.fm room looks cool, too bad about the Facebook login. Thanks again bro.

snarkosauruses?

mr peabody (moonship journey to baja), Tuesday, 30 August 2011 04:25 (twelve years ago) link

yea it is a good room in a sea of brostep and 'indie while you work' type bullshit. i don't know who that person is but i am in there a lot and s/he probably has a different sn. i recommend it tho, if you have a facebook? you don't have to link your profile or anything... also you could make a fake facebook page and use that (not that i have ever imagined doing such a thing)

Isn't it fun when you record a perfect mix and then audacity crashes?

That Mango Tropical Smoothie would go really well with a plate of tracklisting - so many great tracks that I recognise that I can't put names to.

Because my mixes are all very labour intensive, tediously drawn out, and computer-made, I made some no-frills (i.e. one take, no edits, no mp3s, improvised, just 2 turntables and a cdj) "honest" mixes. Because the aforementioned audacity crash stole my perfect mix, here's the next best thing.

who's complaining?

second only to popcorn (or something), Sunday, 11 September 2011 02:46 (twelve years ago) link

yea edb your mixes are reliably excellent, i listen to them pretty often actually! just gets repetitive to say "i like this" over and over but the last few have been especially great (haven't listened to this new one yet tho)

it's time for the purpculator (psychgawsple), Sunday, 11 September 2011 04:18 (twelve years ago) link

Thanks! (for the praise and the vote of confidence). Ahhh, I'm gonna miss making mixes, unless of course I get a new computer/ turntable access during the year. Over the last 5 years it's been one of the most effective means of digesting new music.

the music in there is pretty good but as a general rule I don't fuck with rooms that have an official waiting list with sign-ups and all that junk

how do you have a new mix every week full of things i've never heard of?

it always amazes me how much of this type of stuff there is out there ...

mr peabody (moonship journey to baja), Sunday, 18 September 2011 22:23 (twelve years ago) link

I've heard of at least one of those tracks, curiously enough. (Thanks, btw.)

Vision Kreayshawn Newsun (Le Bateau Ivre), Sunday, 18 September 2011 22:38 (twelve years ago) link

i recognize also deadboy and major notes - UK bass/funky ppl - i think a deadboy drake remix was in the ilx eoy list for '10

zvookster, Sunday, 18 September 2011 22:38 (twelve years ago) link

Yeah, I'm familiar with Deadboy but haven't heard that track. I'd heard fauxmarc's own track in there and liked it enough to push it on other people. Beyond that, it's a mystery to me. Sounds really good so far, tho.

skrillex pretend (The Reverend), Sunday, 18 September 2011 22:58 (twelve years ago) link

dunno every month or so i just sit there for an hour or two at work going through the last 8 weeks of juno. really patient sifting through the crap i guess.

rev, true story - when you first posted your mix i hadn't seen a track listing and just figured i could find whatever bass burners was by googling for lyrics, was stumped for days and mad because I REALLY WANTED IT and then realized it was yours.

fauxmarc, Sunday, 18 September 2011 23:18 (twelve years ago) link

that skanky kingdom had been bumping for ages, i'd thought it was his but i'd only i'd it on a recent release

fauxmarc, Sunday, 18 September 2011 23:22 (twelve years ago) link

The Skanky just uses the same sample of Nicole's "Make It Hot" that Kingdom uses on his remix of Nguzunguzu's "Timesup".
