gabbneb, Thursday, 13 March 2008 03:13 (sixteen years ago) link

i still want to see that Jimmie in NYC video

gabbneb, Thursday, 13 March 2008 03:14 (sixteen years ago) link

I was hoping that was going to be Chad Knaus of NASCAR Performance.

I wish I could find tape of that. All I have is Jimmie ringing the closing bell at the NYSE.

felicity, Thursday, 13 March 2008 03:50 (sixteen years ago) link

Road courses do remind me of pole position, tho, as well as this toy-electric-track-racing place (what are these called?) I went to at least one party at as a kid.

Are you thinking of Slick Track? There's a "road course" in Long Beach where you ride around in mini stock cars.

Best driver: Loren Wallace for GEICO

felicity, Thursday, 13 March 2008 23:19 (sixteen years ago) link

No, these were like model cars, not ones you could actually sit in. Someone dropped the name on another thread, and I've already forgotten again. I loved driving around in go-karts on the "road course" at Golf 'n Stuff in Ventura when I was 10-12, tho.

<3 Loren Wallace. Those guys are such geniuses.

gabbneb, Friday, 14 March 2008 01:21 (sixteen years ago) link

MW did pretty well here

gabbneb, Friday, 14 March 2008 01:38 (sixteen years ago) link

I like the Sammy Hagar "Can't Drive 55" one too.

felicity, Friday, 14 March 2008 01:44 (sixteen years ago) link

this Roman Soldier Watercraft at the Glacially-Carved Valley commercial is kinda compelling

gabbneb, Friday, 14 March 2008 04:00 (sixteen years ago) link

nascar is pretty retarded. i think all sports are retarded but this one is particularly retarded.

The Brainwasher, Friday, 14 March 2008 04:01 (sixteen years ago) link

retarded.

The Brainwasher, Friday, 14 March 2008 04:01 (sixteen years ago) link

I bought a set a couple years ago. It's grown to 80ft and had to moved to a friends basement. We lead a simple life, in the midwest.

brownie, Friday, 14 March 2008 14:12 (sixteen years ago) link

How I miss that simple life, with your slot cars and your barn bowling.

maybe too obv, but Elliott Sadler as YGS

OTM

I placed a bet on Hamlin (matched up against Jr). wtf happened Denny with the last restart.

brownie, Sunday, 16 March 2008 21:34 (sixteen years ago) link

Denny had fule problems on the restart and couldn't get going again. He actually looks a little like ian. That's a fun clubhouse. Is it the tires guys? Car of Tomorrow?

felicity, Tuesday, 18 March 2008 17:46 (sixteen years ago) link

Seems like Hamlin always goes to starboard in the bottom half of the race.

Is there any debate about who drives the 41 car?

gabbneb, Tuesday, 18 March 2008 18:14 (sixteen years ago) link

Hamlin is a chaser, and a good one. I'm thinking max. With a 2007 Nationwide win last year, good teammate, helping out the #42 here and there, he is emerging as the star of Ganassi.

felicity, Tuesday, 18 March 2008 18:41 (sixteen years ago) link

"We never had any Vogue here before"

felicity, Saturday, 22 March 2008 03:20 (sixteen years ago) link

too low-profile for GQ

gabbneb, Wednesday, 26 March 2008 23:26 (sixteen years ago) link

it occurred to me that different tones might prevail at the magazines

gabbneb, Wednesday, 26 March 2008 23:41 (sixteen years ago) link

I just just flipped through 25 non-NASCAR henpecked husbands? That was a DNQ.

felicity, Thursday, 27 March 2008 04:49 (sixteen years ago) link

Biffle into the wall and headed for the garage

My GOP uncle otoh, who while not necessarily a big fan of the sport is a fan of such milieu and has actually been to a race or two, has been smoking Winstons since forever.

apparently he's quit smoking omg wtf!

Love the way Reed Sorensen has been driving all week long. <3

felicity, Thursday, 27 March 2008 19:13 (sixteen years ago) link

Oh yeah did you see Montoya put Kasey Kahne into the fence yesterday. Kahne was kind of getting sideways.

felicity, Thursday, 27 March 2008 19:18 (sixteen years ago) link

that jamie mcmurray, i guess he really cares. a nice win for n/a.

hey brownie, do people from your neck of the woods regard any sprint cup track as home turf?

gabbneb, Monday, 31 March 2008 03:26 (sixteen years ago) link

a nice win for n/a.

Surely you mean Denny Hamli(a)n?

green white checkered

Kerm, Sunday, 6 April 2008 21:50 (sixteen years ago) link

great AFLAC commercial

gabbneb, Sunday, 6 April 2008 22:20 (sixteen years ago) link

I like the green white flag but Carl Edwards has the personality of a drilled out wheel well. And no burnout.

If I wanted to watch back flips I would watch diving.

felicity, Monday, 7 April 2008 15:47 (sixteen years ago) link

On the lighter side, Kyle wins another Nationwide race with no tires shocker!
