one year passes...
I witnessed a baby kitten get slowly run over and not die immediately this morning during my commute.
I haven't recovered all day. At least as far as thinking clearly about something else for more than 10 minutes.

you should ask to take the day off. that is horrifying, especially if you are a cat lover.

one year passes...
the other day on the upper deck of a number 19 (i think) bus, stilled at traffic lights, i witnessed a young family gathered on their porch ready to leave the house on what appeared to be leisurely grounds
a boy of about 7 or 8 was playing with a football, but lost control, and it bounced slowly and agonisingly underneath my bus, directly beneath my line of vision. there was a sort of consternation amongst all involved
i smiled
the lights went green and the bus went forwards. my smile broadened. and yes, sure enough, about one second later, an enormous & explosive report, the sound of fifty balloons popping at once. shock and agony on the faces of the bereaved. the boy began immediately to cry as we drew away
i & the suited scottish man sitting in front of me were the only two people sitting on that side of the top deck. we burst into simultaneous & completely guiltless laughter
it was glorious
