Huh, I didn't know that about Chinese and chicken skin. Chicken skin is very common to eat as yakitori in Japan on its own.

i would definitely eat (and probably have eaten) a 5:1 pork fat:pork meat but my understanding is that duck is the hip meat now

duck skin is also delicious, especially peking duck

when you go to a fancy peking duck restaurant in peking (beijing) there is sometimes a tray of white sugar on the table and you can dip the skin in that
but whatever I'm so over duck

why do yelpers always try to have group birthday dinners on weekends in little places?
― Ask The Answer Man (sexyDancer), Tuesday, 19 July 2011 15:16 (twelve years ago) link
1. pack mentality feels greatest power overrunning joints to capacity
2. free birthday cake or whatever speciality replacement for it the restaurant has for reviewing
3. force waitstaff to sing, rate the singing in special bonus review

I can't believe that you guys make such a big deal about Yelpers when ~right here~ we have stuff like this just sitting there, unchecked:
this thread was motivated by chuck eddy constantly using "it rocks" or "it doesn't rock" as a critical heuristic but getting his panties in a huge twist when i asked him to explain what that means. i thought it was odd for a critic to take it as self-evident, as eddy apparently does -- it seems like a foundational aspect of his aesthetic that he doesn't or didn't care to analyze. the best he could do IIRC is to rattle off bands that do and don't rock, which is not exactly helpful. i wish i could find the thread(s) where this confrontation (?!) took place.this particular thread never really got off the ground, really, but the question still stands. what does it mean "to rock" in a musical sense -- that is, what formal components of music generally qualify something as "rocking" in some intersubjective way?― by another name (amateurist), Friday, August 5, 2011 9:09 AM (43 minutes ago)

It gets a bit segregated on Friday evenings, white folks downstairs and black folks on the top, not sure what the deal with that is. I like saturdays better. Music is great on both dance floors.
From a Yelp review of a club that I'm one of the owners of. Note: the entire venue is one room with one dancefloor on a single level.

I'm sick to death of reading negative "reviews" that are nothing more than butthurtedness over something like "our waitress was not aware that we should be getting four cents off our medium Diet Coke for it being our eighth Foursquare check-in and it ruined our entire experience".

Since I am from the home of authentic Mexican food (SoCal!), I tend to exercise a snobbish flair towards Mexican food on the East Coast.
Whenever I'm craving for a veggie burrito, I head here. It not only fills me up, but gives me the authentic mexican experience I sometimes miss from SoCal.
As I am from SoCal, I have come to recognize authentic Mexican food, and learned to appreciate it.
The food was adequate, but definitely lacked that seemingly-necessary authentic SoCal Mexican food flair.
If you want authentic mexican food, come to socal.
Source of the most authentic Mexican food, according to Yelpers: SoCal. Place rarely mentioned as a source of authentic Mexican food: Mexico.
