Re: Lou Barlow on Albini, Pavement and 90s sound
Postby Sowley on Thu Jun 30, 2011 11:39 amI find a certain amount of frustration that I can't find the clip from MTV's "Sex In The '90s" of Lou Barlow sitting in a dark room queening out about his lady cheating on him.
He was wearing a Joy Division t-shirt no less.Stephen Sowleysow✧✧✧@electri✧✧✧.c✧✧

kurt loder is 66 years old, btw.
kurt loder is enjoying that a little too much
― horseshoe, Wednesday, 6 July 2011 21:48 (twelve years ago) link
in his defense it was the most serious thing he'd been able to report about in almost ten years
― death to ilx, long live the frogbs (strongo hulkington's ghost dad), Wednesday, 6 July 2011 21:49 (twelve years ago) link

MTV sux now. Bring back the 90's when they actually played videos. So sad that Kurt committed suicide. But why? Why Kurt? Hope that you are truly happy now.

you can tell that this person doesnt remember the 90s, because people were complaining that they didnt play videos back then too
― Ayatollah Colm Meaney (Princess TamTam), Wednesday, 6 July 2011 21:49 (twelve years ago) link
I am sort of surprised that Loder is older than my dad.

I used to watch "USA High." One of the girls on that show went on to do voices for "Team America:World Police."

i remember in '92 when they have this big "NEW MUSIC REVOLUTION" ad campaign to signal that they were finally retiring all those old Whitesnake videos and only keeping recent vids in rotation
the music programming on mtv was all anyone really talked about (other than the real world) until at least 96/97.
― death to ilx, long live the frogbs (strongo hulkington's ghost dad), Wednesday, 6 July 2011 21:54 (twelve years ago) link
i was actually thinking of just starting a john norris vs. kurt loder poll instead of polling all the mtv news personalities
― Ayatollah Colm Meaney (Princess TamTam), Wednesday, 6 July 2011 21:54 (twelve years ago) link
unless you were like REALLY into liquid television or something.
and b&b of course, but that was music programming too in its way.
― death to ilx, long live the frogbs (strongo hulkington's ghost dad), Wednesday, 6 July 2011 21:55 (twelve years ago) link
but i dont really want to leave all the soren partisans out in the cold
― Ayatollah Colm Meaney (Princess TamTam), Wednesday, 6 July 2011 21:55 (twelve years ago) link
kurt loder would destroy john norris in that poll
― horseshoe, Wednesday, 6 July 2011 21:55 (twelve years ago) link
would vote soren if she were an option!
would vote altschul
― tylerw, Wednesday, 6 July 2011 21:56 (twelve years ago) link
Loder would totally win.

as always, wikipedia holds the key
"Launched on August 1, 1996, the original purpose of the channel was to give music fans a place to see constant, commercial-free music videos, once the original MTV had started to change its direction from music and concentrate on reality television and soap operas."
