I didn't vote for it either.

(a) I'm not that wowed by it (b) 98% of voters would have voted for it anyway.

The Edge of Gloryhole (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 6 July 2011 20:55 (2 years ago) Permalink

Next up the top 3 and there's not a lot in it.

The multi-talented F.R. David (Billy Dods), Wednesday, 6 July 2011 20:56 (2 years ago) Permalink

WEG is a great song but I can absolutely name 20 PSB songs I like more, especially when you factor in Alternative.

I would have picked "Opportunities" before I picked WEG (though in practice I picked neither; did vote for "Love Comes Quickly" tho)

DJP, Wednesday, 6 July 2011 20:56 (2 years ago) Permalink

Genuinely quite excited. Come on Rent.

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 6 July 2011 20:57 (2 years ago) Permalink

Now I'm rooting for WHIDTDT to beat "Rent" though it probably won't happe

daavid, Wednesday, 6 July 2011 20:58 (2 years ago) Permalink

hope Rent wins now yeah.

second only to popcorn (or something), Wednesday, 6 July 2011 20:58 (2 years ago) Permalink

nonono come on WHIDTDT?, "Rent" should be #2

DJP, Wednesday, 6 July 2011 20:58 (2 years ago) Permalink

(since it's a given "Being Boring" is #1)

DJP, Wednesday, 6 July 2011 20:59 (2 years ago) Permalink

I didn't vote for WEG either and now I feel I should have really.

LeRooLeRoo, Wednesday, 6 July 2011 20:59 (2 years ago) Permalink

I feel more of you should have voted for "Don Juan"

DJP, Wednesday, 6 July 2011 20:59 (2 years ago) Permalink

I dunno, i find "Rent" a little bland tbh. Great track and all but not a top 3 for me.

daavid, Wednesday, 6 July 2011 21:00 (2 years ago) Permalink

still hoping "Comrades!" might sneak in ftw

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 6 July 2011 21:00 (2 years ago) Permalink

I've got this sinking feeling
I'm not dreaming
We'll be sorry soon

The Edge of Gloryhole (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 6 July 2011 21:00 (2 years ago) Permalink

3. Being Boring. (1990, Behaviour, 607 points, 22 votes, 4 number ones)

Spotify: http://open.spotify.com/track/6K7uuzEC4I4BCEDNIcS8ky

RIF:Originally started as an attempt to write a Stock, Aitken and Waterman style pop song.

wait WAHT

DJP, Wednesday, 6 July 2011 21:02 (2 years ago) Permalink

omg I love you guys

DJP, Wednesday, 6 July 2011 21:03 (2 years ago) Permalink

So I see what's happened here. A lot of people didn't bother with WEG assuming it wouldn't need any more votes. See what you've done?

daavid, Wednesday, 6 July 2011 21:03 (2 years ago) Permalink

Originally started as an attempt to write a Stock, Aitken and Waterman style pop song.

Wow, did not know that, It doesn't sound like SAW at all!

daavid, Wednesday, 6 July 2011 21:04 (2 years ago) Permalink

Genuine shock here.

Gukbe, Wednesday, 6 July 2011 21:06 (2 years ago) Permalink

RENT FOR #1

DJP, Wednesday, 6 July 2011 21:07 (2 years ago) Permalink

I now feel like anything is possible

DJP, Wednesday, 6 July 2011 21:07 (2 years ago) Permalink

i don't get this mentality of not voting for something because you assume others will. it's a poll!

second only to popcorn (or something), Wednesday, 6 July 2011 21:07 (2 years ago) Permalink

I didn't vote for Rent, and WHIDTDT was my number one so am buzzin' right now.

oppet, Wednesday, 6 July 2011 21:08 (2 years ago) Permalink

Being Shocking

LeRooLeRoo, Wednesday, 6 July 2011 21:08 (2 years ago) Permalink

Pretty sure "What Keeps Mankind Alive?" won't make it at this point.

daavid, Wednesday, 6 July 2011 21:08 (2 years ago) Permalink

Think of it like voting in a safe liberal district.

The Edge of Gloryhole (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 6 July 2011 21:08 (2 years ago) Permalink

I lost some of my love for "WHIDTDT" over time so I didn't vote for it. "Rent" was my #3.

LeRooLeRoo, Wednesday, 6 July 2011 21:10 (2 years ago) Permalink

and look what happens. xp.

second only to popcorn (or something), Wednesday, 6 July 2011 21:11 (2 years ago) Permalink

oops, at work and forgot that video has a bunch of naked guys in it.

skip, Wednesday, 6 July 2011 21:11 (2 years ago) Permalink

"Rent" was my highest single; I had 3 b-sides and an album track above it

DJP, Wednesday, 6 July 2011 21:11 (2 years ago) Permalink

Struggled for a moment to remember what this other contender was besides "Rent"? What's this "WHIDTDT"? Oh yes, that... Didn't even occur to me to vote for it. You know, hating fun as I do.

Nag! Nag! Nag!, Wednesday, 6 July 2011 21:13 (2 years ago) Permalink

Are you ready for the top 2? There was virtually nothing in it with the top spot swapping a number of times.

The multi-talented F.R. David (Billy Dods), Wednesday, 6 July 2011 21:13 (2 years ago) Permalink

Cue...Sound of the atom splitting.

The multi-talented F.R. David (Billy Dods), Wednesday, 6 July 2011 21:15 (2 years ago) Permalink

Deserve is a total jam, deserved #1.

skip, Wednesday, 6 July 2011 21:16 (2 years ago) Permalink

YES!

daavid, Wednesday, 6 July 2011 21:16 (2 years ago) Permalink

Ah, so close! Can't complain though - great work Billy, many thanks!

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 6 July 2011 21:17 (2 years ago) Permalink

<3 that performance at the Brits. Neil looks really nervous.

daavid, Wednesday, 6 July 2011 21:18 (2 years ago) Permalink

DAMMIT A FEW PLACES UP AND RENT WOULD HAVE BEEN #1

I wouldn't have bumped any of the songs above it tho

DJP, Wednesday, 6 July 2011 21:18 (2 years ago) Permalink

Yes, thanks Billy! Great job!

daavid, Wednesday, 6 July 2011 21:18 (2 years ago) Permalink

damn

second only to popcorn (or something), Wednesday, 6 July 2011 21:19 (2 years ago) Permalink

if anything, this track sounds a bit too perfect. Did they have help in the songwriting?

skip, Wednesday, 6 July 2011 21:19 (2 years ago) Permalink

thanks Billy!

Yeah, great job Billy. I've had an absolute blast.

Gukbe, Wednesday, 6 July 2011 21:21 (2 years ago) Permalink

Did they have help in the songwriting?

Yes, Allee Willis is credited as co-writer. She wrote the 'Since you went away...' part.

The multi-talented F.R. David (Billy Dods), Wednesday, 6 July 2011 21:22 (2 years ago) Permalink

Great poll. Every song a hit. Thanks Billy. Phew.
