This is a more recent Onion article on cats that made me laugh:
Point/Counterpoint: Cats Are Better Than Dogs
― n/a, Thursday, 29 November 2007 17:48 (sixteen years ago) link
I do similar things around here sometimes, but usually b/c it's easier for me to just get something than to explain where it is, and possibly have my directions be met with confusion and more questions.
(The answer to "where is ________ document?" is more often than not, "On J's coffee table" or "Under J's desk.")
xpost- I liked that point-counterpoint a lot

She knew they were there though right beside her. It would have taken her 5 seconds to grab them out! I wouldn't have minded getting them if I knew they were there in the first place. She was just being deliberately annoying.

you were out yesterday?
― Jordan, Thursday, 29 November 2007 17:52 (sixteen years ago) link

That S curve would have sucked and been a collision-magnet.
I need to stop making crossword puzzles because once I start one, it is very very hard to take a break, even if I should be working. Anyway, I did a theme one, or at least kind of a theme one, and it turned out all right. I'll link to it later.

i've resisted downloading it at work, and i'm dying to make another one but i won't have the time until next week at the earliest

Today I had a HILARIOUS employee ID photo taken (I look insanely excited in the picture and every time I look at it I LOL) and while I waited for the picture taker, I watched a disaster safety video about this building. Every scenario started with, "In the event of (insert disaster here), the glass and steel in the main building can become deadly..."

THERE IS NOWHERE TO RUN.

I'm just going to pop in here once a day around lunch and say something about this building.
Dress Barn is having a 60% off clearance sale!
I still can't form an opinion on whether Thompson Center is ugly or not. It confounds me.
― kenan, Thursday, 29 November 2007 20:05 (sixteen years ago) link
It's pretty ugly.
― Jenny, Thursday, 29 November 2007 20:09 (sixteen years ago) link
Originally, the design called for curved, insulated (double paned) glass panels, but these were found to be prohibitively expensive. Flat, insulated glass had been suggested, but were dismissed by Jahn. Single-paned (non-insulated), curved glass panels were eventually used and resulted in the need for a more expensive air conditioning system, which remains very costly to operate and is insufficient on hot days (internal temperatures have reached as high as 90 degrees Fahrenheit).
Oh goodie.
― Jenny, Thursday, 29 November 2007 20:10 (sixteen years ago) link
I always kind of get a kick out of there being a food court at the center of all that curvy glass.

That's a couple floors higher than me, I think, but is pretty much the view from our "break room" which is really just large cubicle with a microwave in it.

I really do talk about this building too much. Sorry.
Likes: The Thompson Center, Dress Barn, Cobb salads Dislikes: Two-faced people, static cling, nausea
― Jenny, Thursday, 29 November 2007 20:18 (sixteen years ago) link
Yeah, that's open, too - no glass, so if I get overwhelmed with the hopelessness of it all one day while I'm waiting for my pop corn to pop, I can just jump right over.

Somebody took a dive in Marshall Fields not too long ago. I'm sure somebody has killed him/herself here at some point although I've been unable to find anything about it.
Okay, that is your daily update from Clark and Lake.
